New synergy amp

Sounds like a positive review
What modules did you try in it?
Did you notice at low volumes a huge difference between the syn50 or were they relatively close w the structure options
I tried quite a few - DRECT, Powerball, plexi, DS, deliverance, BE-DLX, savage, IICP and z wreck. I never bonded with DS in the past and I had a much better experience esp with the looser structure 2. The savage still doesn’t do it for me and will likely be sold this week. I did not compare the volumes as I was running it direct only via XLR so I can’t comment. I feel that the structure plus reactance gives a little more flexibility as it is changing the negative feedback vs. just presence and resonance controls.

This with an SLO module would be amazing.
Just playing devils advocate though and it’s kind of where I am at too
If the clean channel they lifted from the Astro
And all the Ir stuff is basically the Astro
If only using the SLO module in the Syn 20
Again the Astro covers the crunch./ purple and the Red high gain
Why not go the full Soldano

Because you can pull the SLO module and put in anything else you want.

Yes that part for sure if you plan to do so but if one wanted that Soldano thing only , I think obviously other than the price difference the Astro may be a better choice
Hell I liked the Astro Red more than the SLO 30 od
Plus then you have the Blue / purple as well

To each their own. I thought the SLO30 was a better, bigger sounding amp.

FINALLY! Thank you.
Well, yes, but I replied to you saying one specific module.

Synergy can be fun but imo can also be a huge rabbit hole. The intro price can quickly add up to a full size amp or close to it. Heck, if you were only really interested in the 6505, you'd lose money getting the synergy vs the real thing.

Also, the full complimentary power amp of the real amps can't be discounted. It all really depends on what you are looking for. But for me, I'd rather pay $1800 for a SLO30 than have the synergy head plus multiple interchangeable modules....but again, that's just me.

So how does the Synergy compare to running an Axe FX into a tube power amp and a real cab? Do the tube modules actually give it some extra mojo over the Fractal amp models?

In my mind digital versions of preamps versus synergy modules would be a better comparison.
In my mind II: I think that comparison would actually be “apples to apples” where digital might prove a point.

I’ve been doing the “digital preamp into tube power” for a while now…and I honestly believe there’s something in there for the A.i.t.r peeps…and also for the “Tubes matter” folks.

@JiveTurkey
I noticed typing A.i.t.r. Without the dots gives “Amp where I'm at” for the reader.
(Code on the platform does this)

Could your arrange that fractal is replaced by ndsp in a simular fashion? …and vice versa…I’d love to see what happens !

Also the ENTIRE back end of the 20w in silent/direct mode is digital. The entire power amp is ignored. It is basically the same as your Astro 20 but has additional parameters for reactance and structure. It’d be an absolute waste if you have the Astro 20 and do want another power amp.
Yup and the reason I won’t be purchasing it (yet) as I already have the Fryette PS2 doing self attenuation so I don’t need a digital approximation of it.
Also the Syn1 works better in my flow.
When I bypass the Synergy the signal goes into the input of my FM3 for tuning.

It hard to say as one of the Synergy guys said that the presence and structure is included on the XLR so maybe they are taking the tap after the power amp ?
It’s kind of vague
Yeah it is hard to say - I’m not sure if the structure and reactance are analog components? I’m guessing they are and then they if goes to the digital power amp (xlr) and EL84’s

All you need to know is that the Synergy are preamps and not an approximation and not subject to frequent software updates where accuracy is claimed to the previous update.

You will play more.

Where you get this info?
Are you saying there is digital poweramp sim before the IR?
