NEW Mesa Boogie 90's Dual Rectifier

I don’t think I’ve heard anything negative about boogie from a customer service perspective. It’s been 15 years since I’ve talked with them though.

There really isn't. People are just sore because they can't bring in their amp they bought used to get fixed at no cost. It was to help and support new dealers. People might not like that, but it doesn't mean the actual service has gone down.

Being a customer for a long time, Boogie's service is excellent. In my time they've sent me free tubes when new ones I bought were defective, worked with me on re-shelling an amp, and fixed my under warranty amp when the reverb tank wouldn't work right. No fuss at all.

My Mark III will probably go back to them soon for service since it's 30 years old now, I'll probably do that this year. The amp still sounds perfect, but I want it to remain that way for 30 more years, so asking them to have Mike B give it a look over and replace the filter caps and anything else he'd like to change sounds like a good idea.

Still are.
Amazing at not honoring a repair that was obviously a factory defect on amp that was purchased when the warranty was still transferable. Due to the original purchaser not being able to locate proof of purchase.

Look, I only say this so others are 100% in the know that warranty is not transferable.

Luckily I was able to take the amp apart and fix it myself.

Sorry to hear about your one bad experience. I've seen them still fix things for free, even out of warranty, many, many times. I'm assuming you're also salty towards Fractal, Friedman, Roland/BOSS, Marshall, Synergy, etc.?

This was done because dealers got tired of extra work that they never made money on, and Mesa didn't make money on. It doesn't benefit them at all.

I do think that Mesa should consider the warranties being transferable again (I know they won't but alas). I get they aren't making money on repairs but when they advise you to only take Mesa amps to authorized repair places and the difficulty of work on certain Mesa amps, can really make repairs much more challenging than a non Mesa brand

On all the other Mesa amps I have I contacted them and they offered to do any updates to them free of charge. I purchased these used. The updates were due to small issues that popped up after release.

I don't believe they will do this for free for the second owner at this point. Maybe they will but my experience was I couldn't advance beyond providing the the original purchase documents.

Before they would look up the serial and give you five years from the date it was produced.

I’m ALL for youtube being flooded with Rectifier videos, ESPECIALLY 2 channel ones. And I don’t care if they sound like shit, that’s part of the beauty of the Recto.

Would be nice if Mesa just made things to be more serviceable. A lot of their build decisions aren’t saving them money or offering any real benefit. It just means a lot of techs won’t want to do the work, and if they do it’ll cost more and or take longer. I don’t even mind boutique pricing but build them nice and offer good after service. Some of the official repair places over here aren’t the best, and sending an amp to america is slow, risky and expensive.

I am not salty at all. Only sharing my experience to your reply.

What reason would I have to be salty toward any other company?

It may be possible that they respond to service requests by dealers different that they do to someone who bought a defective amp used.

That’s a bummer. I can see this one from both perspectives but tend to side with the customer, especially in cases where we’re dealing with an obvious factory defect or design flaw. Mesa isn’t perfect and they have had some pretty good flubs on the design side.

I look at a service bulletin type issue kind of like I’d look at a recall on a part for an automobile. Granted the amp failure may not be a safety issue, but I would appreciate seeing more companies own those types of mistakes.

I also bet Mesa has covered some instances of those types of issues.

Why wouldn’t someone willing to throw $4k at a rectifier amp just buy an original?
The chance of its age being a problem? Having a warranty? Those 2 right off the top of my head would be huge reasons for me to need at least a $1500 price difference to entice me to buy a used one.
