Mesa dual rectifier noise

I recently noticed a slight noise coming from the tubes of my 100 watt multiwatt dual rectifier. It was made around 2012. I don't know if this noise has always been there or what, I don't know if it's normal or what it is. If anyone knows, I would appreciate your help.

I've had rectifier tubes rattle like that before. You can safely run the amp without them in silicon diode rectification mode to troubleshoot. It'd probably stop if you lightly press against them too.

I hear a similar high pitched noise occasionally with my Dual Rectifier Multi-Watt. It’s not particularly loud, but I can hear it from a few feet away if I’m paying attention. The intensity seems to change when I switch to another channel. Sometimes the sound is louder on the Red channel, sometimes on the Orange.

oooooooo yeah yeah yeah!!!

I had this exact thing but MUCH worse with my old Fryette Sig:X. I'd never had an amp with a tube rectifier before so I had no idea what it was. I was swapping preamp tubes and all sorts (which Fryette helpfully voided my warranty over; the fucking vinegar stroke arseholes) and in the end.... swapped out the recto tube for a new one... all my additional noise and distortion problems went away.

Defo get it changed!

Fryette really has the worst support, huh?

My Multi Watt does the exact same thing but to a much lesser degree, not nearly that loud.

However it goes away after the initial warmup. The amp has been going strong with its current set of tubes for years now so I've never thought of it as a problem, just a unique quirk of the amp. I could be wrong I guess but again it goes away soon after powering on and the amp has sounded fine for years.

This right here.

I solved this same issue in an old recto amp by turning all 3 channels to diode rectification and pulling the rectifier tubes out entirely then turning it back on. If the noise is gone, you just need new rectifier tubes.

Hi, i asked a good friend of mine: it's sounds like an element is burned/died. If your lamps are well red glowing - they are fine. You have to check the PCB w/ a specialist. Or you can take a look on a unplugged amp (know that caps still keep charge and can shock you!). Probably you will see cracks or black traces on soldered elements or on PCB itself.

It is the rectifier tube. Nothign to do with the PCB.
