New Friedman IR-X preamp

This is where tube circuitry is going, preamps mainly. It is inevitable I think. Not that I want it to be, but seems more logical and cost effective considering modeling and IR technology getting so much better.
I like dabbling in amps and building, and I've been thinking my next projects will be preamps too.

Sounds like a pain in the ass to have to use an editor to tweak the presence/depth. This looks straightforward though so you’ll probably find your settings once and forget. Still though, it sounds like a pain in the ass to have to use an editor to tweak the presence/depth. Maybe this is what we had hoped for the Revolt, with the extra pain in the ass of having to use an editor to tweak the presence/depth.

Come to think of it, this might well be a Synergy BE DLX module in a pedal format with a digital back-end. I hope this means the Synergy might go in this direction in the (not so) distant future
Pretty much yes I bet this is pretty much the BE Deluxe pre which is pretty cool

No stereo inputs...

He didn’t show a way to disable IRs without disabling the power amp emulation. Looked like all or nothing, unless he just didn’t cover it.
He mentions at 6:23 about running into a power amp and speaker when disabling the “IR section” - maybe the IR and power amp sim are tied together?

wonder if they’ll do a 19” rack version.

I think this pedal version is probably going to be what a lot of people want, quite intrigued as to what Friedman circuit it’s based on and how it sounds.
