In the video their tech even says they could go for e.g Axe-Fx, but then they would have to spend a lot of time figuring all the sounds.

We often don't think about this but when you have written so many songs over the decades, each requiring some fx switching etc...it can take ages to figure out how to replicate all that with a new rig. Even if that new rig would be less gear and cost to transport.

That won’t be a problem soonish. Others will follow I bet.

Kind of funny that he plays stadiums with gear that he doesn't even know what it is. And we (mostly) play bars, clubs or at home and focus so deeply on minutia.

That felt overstated and a bit exaggerated when I saw that being said. Outside of Somewhere in Time
Maiden hasn't been a Lifeson-level let's explore every tonality the guitar is capable of.

I'd imagine that those guys pretty much have a clean sound, a rythm sound and a solo sound...

Couldn't you just keep the FM3 active in the loop at all times and then use Scenes to turn the effects on/off while doing the channel changing? That way you're not dealing with any pops? (I ask this not knowing a single thing about how that amp works)

yes, you defintiely can do that using the FM3 to change channels via MIDI

No real pops on this one. That is actually a thing on the Multiwatt. You need to switch between the channels once when you fire it up to get the channel pops out of the system. For whatever reason on the one I have.

With the JVM; I have it figured out. You just need to not lean on channel volume controls for gaining up the amp. That was my first mistake. It's great that way if you don't need anything in the loop.
