To be fair, the most recent 3.whatever release came out, like, 5 minutes ago. And it was a killer. The major revision makes 4.0 stick out like a sore thumb, but that's just because it supports a new piece of hardware.4.0 news:

My take:
- Good on them for continually adding reverbs. Definitely has been one of the weaker spots of the unit. That being said....
- The promised "ambient" reverbs from the launch announcement still are nowhere to be seen and were probably only ever just hallucinations of their copywriter and/or Doug Castro.
- They got to 4.0 - a major milestone and progress marker - and added ZERO amps? Like TINA is right there, and they still are the slowest amp modeling company in existence?!?!
Also to be fair, I think one of those new reverbs could be described as "ambient". (Of course, I'm old school. I think all reverbs are ambient LOL.)
And to continue being fair, this is fair.

I came this close to doing a capture of the Mk I mode before packing my Mk V up for return, but then I started getting bogged down in Slave Out levels etc. etc. etc. and chickened out.
Last thing I need right now is to blow up $3.5K worth of gear ($1800 of which doesn't belong to me) in one shot.

People keep acting like fractal couldn’t have a modern form factor or touch screen and all that. I don’t understand why, the way the qc and qc mini navigate seems great. It’s always going to be a challenge with menus but if the fm3 got a qc treatment with a touch screen it would be a much welcomed overhaul for that form factor.Make no mistake, if that was a FAS Mini launch today, every mf’er in here would have bought it.
For the rack stuff, meh, I’ll use axeedit all day long over hunching over a front panel.

Absolutely true. I figure that just changes how you do something. Not what you can do. Folks are typically concerned more about capabilities than methodology. Outside of the expression thing it seems like the mini can do everything else? Again, as far as I can tell so far.

? Even the "compact" FM3 is a fucking boat anchor compared to the original QC, let alone the QCM.
