NDSP Quad Cortex

You'd think they'd know mic-ing up a ""FRFR"" cab is a stupid decision.

I'd have shot an IR of that same cab + mic they have on the Kraken and used that direct to their mixer (instead of sticking a ""FRFR"" + other mics).

They mic-ed up an already mic-ed up tone..great

Anyone using a Fryette PowerStation PS-2A (and a cab) with their QC? Asking because a friend has been thinking about such a setup.
Remind your friend that the QC is quite low output, and consequently, you'll .. I mean... he'll/she'll end up running the Powerstation quite a bit higher in terms of volume than they would for other modellers.

Would this result in power tube distortion or is the power station not supposed to break up?

Noted!

Also understand the "supposed ideal method" is to run the QC into the effects loop on the PS.

First time trying my QC with my amp and a cab - and wtf am I doing wrong? When I’m hooked up to the amp with just my guitar, works beautifully. Once I use the loop and have my send into the QC’s input, and output 3 on my QC going to the return of my Mesa, I get no sound. I checked the input level and I’m not getting any signal from the Mesa on input 1 despite it coming from send. Ughhh

What does the QC pathway look like?

Realistically, I don't think most people do that though, or they settle for an "all in one" capture with the drives included. It is a cool feature tho.

Personally I'd rather run a modeled drive pedal than a capture of a drive.
Unfortunately my drives are not modeled and likely will not be...

I’d go for the PS100, it can get a good bit louder without going mushy. The 50 is great but the 100 definitely has more headroom for making things loud. PS 50 is better for making a loud amp quiet imo.

I've owned both but not at the same time and don't feel there's a whole lot difference between the two. With a modeler the switchable channel features are kinda irrelevant.

I’ve compared both side by side, and my friend with a QC bought a PS100 purely because of how he could drive it harder while it still sounded good. The 50 definitely sounds worse at higher volumes to me than the 100, and if I was using a modeller, and wanted “band” volumes then I’d go for the PS100. The headroom difference is pretty noticeable IMO.

Simple path, input one and output 3. Mesa’s send is going to input 1 and output 3 is going to the mesa’s return.
More common (4cm)
Guitar —> input QC

Send 1 QC —-> Front amp
Send amp—> return QC
Output 3 QC —> return amp.

You need to put an efx loop block in your QC chain.

Allows switching between real preamp and digital ones, and drives/compressors in front of your analog preamp.

Btw, i think it’s worth trying captures preamps instead of full amps.
Btw2: full models/captures of amps ussually need some highs rolled off, this is causes by doubling up on the poweramp.

Man I’m an idiot 100% and deserve a dunce hat. Fuckin volume knob on the QC.
One time, I was this close (my fingers are positioned really close together) to posting a thread on the FAS forum because I could absolutely not get 4CM to work on my III. Eventually, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed the Out 3 volume was all the way down. It happens.

Even in my job I’m known for spending time trying to solve something, then I ask, then I fix it myself within minutes of asking. Idk what it is lol
