NAM support announced by Fractal Audio

White-box modeling will still be the primary focus. NAM will be included for those cases where a model isn't feasible. Just look at the wish-list section of our forums:
"I wish for a model of the Andromeda Magnetar 3200. There are only five known in existence and no schematic is available but I'm sure Fractal could make a model just by looking at a picture of the rear panel."
I was just going to post "Well I hope this finally shuts up all the people asking for an amp that just released and now you want it because you saw a YT demo."

Fractal can now just say "Go buy the amp and capture it!"

The cool thing is, even if this is likely something they can say - it's also an overall good thing for the amp industry.
If more people are still buying amps, then it should be a positive for both that industry and the digital world of software and hardware modellers.

It will be interesting to see what DSP cost ends up being and how it compares to the amp models themselves. Might end up being a way to free up resources in more complex patches, especially multi-amp ones, and especially assuming next gen's inevitable floor model(s) will support it too.

Also, can't wait for people to start asking for it to be added to the VP4 :)

If there was ever a VP4 Turbo, or something along those lines, with NAM support... that'd be sweeeeeeet.
In the same way, I hope for a next gen Line 6 Stomp that does something with NAM too.

This absolutely kicks ass. We all win here.

I wonder if we ever see a competitive open source white box modeling project. That would be wild.

FINALLY! Someone can get a Gorilla amp on their Fractal! The long national nightmare will be over.

Stadium should have gone NAM - there's nothing to improve on. But I know they want to do it the L6 way with appropriate easy-to-use ecosystem etc.

Nothing to suggest they wont. I.m.h.o "Proxy" will implement *both* their own "system" and Native NAM support.

Well now I hope there won't be as much begging to Fractal to model the next amp or drive pedal etc... you could imagine as well they could offer "Amp", "drive" packs, etc produced by a curated list of vendors (in addition to all the captures that already exist) - just like they sell DynaCab packs for example.

See, I throw up in my mouth reading that.

I don’t like dealing with curated-vendor-pack-capture-add-on-demo-scroll on anything, on any device.

Some people dig that shit, and thats cool. I get it. It’s just not my thing.

As long as Cliff is still cooking on the modeling front, and expanding other features and functionality, I’m good.

Well .... the current model is already AUS $5,300 down here ..... so factor in newer more expensive parts and the impact of the " T " word that shall not be mentioned, and sadly, you mightn't be that far off the mark.

As a comparison, the Helix XL has a launch price down here of $AUS3,999.

I've been very happy with the models in my FM9, but I will definitely be picking up the next-gen FM9 (?) because it would be fun to A/B the models with NAM in one convenient unit.

If these next-gen units re-vamp the UI experience, I could really see Fractal taking over.
