Hmm. The results could be explosive.
Agreed. I already have an FM9T, a TMP, a GT-1000CORE, an ACS-1, an IR-2, an IR-200, a Tonex (which is for sale, but still), and an AmpliFirebox Mk II. And assuming my work situation is sorted by January 1st (likely), I will get a Stadium as well. I really don't see things in terms of 'better.' It's all different approaches that, for me at least, lead to different and complimentary results. I also admit that I can afford it, and this is my only hobby other than books and records that costs any money at all. I don't expect everyone to look at it the way I do.I would go as far to say that G66 are in the top 10 support experiences I've ever had.
Yes the unit is expensive. I sometimes look at my Axe III and think to myself "I don't even use 10% of you" and think about selling it. But the reality is, I've long since paid it off, and it is just a cool device to have around for a ton of reasons.
These things ebb and flow with me - sometimes I'm 90% modeller, and sometimes I'm 90% valve amps. Just depends.
I will say that money being no object, I will have a Helix Stadium alongside the Axe III.
That's pretty interesting. You'd think Axe-Fx 3 would have ample processing power for that.Dang, Cliff mentioned on TGP that they tried to get NAM on the III but no luck

Yeah I thought so too but idk, when was the last time fractal added an entirely new block? I can't think of one but I'm not a historian on this stuffThat's pretty interesting. You'd think Axe-Fx 3 would have ample processing power for that.
Yes, you'd think it'd be viable, especially if they did something like put a usage requirement like you can only place a NAM block or an amp block in a preset but not both. It might not have much storage for caps, though. That's pretty interesting. You'd think Axe-Fx 3 would have ample processing power for that.

I thought the exact same. If they can't store a block library on the device, they likely don't have storage for NAM and Dynacabs and factory cabs. And Cliff refuses to alter either of the latter two.

The Stadium has a GPU, presumably to facilitate an inference engine for capture playback.
At least on "normal" computers, NAM (and also Tonex) playback doesn't profit from a fast GPU (only the training process does, if you do it locally).
They’re not “getting into a market.” They’re adding a feature. I don’t expect this addition to change their philosophy or overall approach. It’s just a pacifier. This is interesting and I don't quite understand why they would allow NAM to run on their platform.
Seems like there will be TONS of "cheaper" hardware units coming out that will run NAM and presumably lots of them will have a better UI.
I'm thinking that it's about to become a very competitive space.
Fractal stuff is normally expensive, and it just seems like a weird choice to even attempt to get into that market at all.
NAM source code has been publicly available for several years now. How many cheap hardware units do you see that run NAM directly?Seems like there will be TONS of "cheaper" hardware units coming out that will run NAM and presumably lots of them will have a better UI.
Not many yet. But lets assume that will pickupNAM source code has been publicly available for several years now. How many cheap hardware units do you see that run NAM directly?
That makes more sense if its just a feature. Didn't realize that is what they are going forThey’re not “getting into a market.” They’re adding a feature. I don’t expect this addition to change their philosophy or overall approach. It’s just a pacifier.
Not many? How about zero if you consider "cheap" to be less than $500. I think you underestimate what's required to play NAM captures. Not many yet. But lets assume that will pickup
Most units will support some kind of profiling. Fractal sitting that one out entirely seems like an unwise move. Many people want captures, and some enjoy both modelling and captures. This is interesting and I don't quite understand why they would allow NAM to run on their platform.

Not going back and forth. I did say there will be cheaper hardware units running NAM that will likely come out in the future. I believe that. Pick apart posts however you feel likeNot many?
