NAD: Marshall DSL100HR

I don't see what's so "odd". I said what I like about it (plenty), and then I explained that this particular unit is defective. Neither mutually exclusive nor all that uncommon (especially for an imported product in this price bracket.)
"like" = defective ?
Does not compute.
POS = whinnar !

Yeah, I really don't follow how 6CA7-A is managing to be more pissed about this than I am. I'm the one who shelled out the OMG-all-of-$700-including-tax on this one. I'm famous for my buyer's remorse but it simply doesn't apply here. I mean, sure, if a second or third defective amp arrives, then we'll talk.

No one's claiming that these are overbuilt mil-spec and/or boutiquey collectible amps. We're just saying they sound good.
um like who said im "pissed" ?
Do you drink alot ? or see imaginary diction where there is none. Asking for a friend.
This thread = already 3 pages of fAilZ

Once apon a time in a galaxy far far away the general gearhead public would praise whats good and warn others to avoid whats bad.
Here we have a guy saying what a great screwed up amp he has which is confusing at best.
Kinda like the German Shepard that ripps yer leg off then goes for help.
Anyway nice to see so many ripples in the water @ 04:00hrs over one or 2 posts about a ridick-u-las thread.
Maybe get out more.
If one or 2 of my posts about a defective vietnam amp has created so much agnst here seems the pump is
primed for a forum meltdown of sorts the likes i'll just skip skippy.
Peace.

My Vietnam is over. Happy southeast Asia merchandise day. :popcorn

I also first crossed paths with the JCM2000. They weren’t perfect but I remember thinking at the time that it was leaps and bounds ahead of the 900 series. Def got me paying attention to Marshall again.
That's a pretty low bar.

As a former JCM2000 DSL50 owner, I say this:
  • Mine had the bias drift issue.
  • The Tone Shift button means Tone Shit.
  • The Deep switch can be overbearing so it's not useful either.
  • It doesn't sound that great at low volume. I liked it better even with a resistive attenuator.
  • The channels were so poorly balanced that it's a one channel amp with switchable modes because the shared EQ makes either one channel tubby or the other thin.
  • The preamp board is a bouncy castle. It's not properly supported.
It can sound really good, I think it is best treated as kind of like a JCM800. Set it on Crunch, boost with a drive pedal.

I don't know if the modern versions are better in this regard but the JCM2000 series has a laundry list of issues. I'd rather aim for JVM.
