Midi coming to UAFX pedals

I can agree with that premise, I just don't agree with the choices they made for cabs and their micing.
Isn't that the case with every pedal they (and everyone else) make? "I just don't agree with their model of tape aging. Too bad I can't change it." They didn't make an IR loader; they made a specific cab modeler.

Still not available for update though.

Seems to work pretty well.

However, there seems to be something extremely fucked up about the handling of saving presets. If I understood Henning right, every time you hit store on the pedal for whatever preset you are on, it will instead create a new preset instead of overwriting the current one. Then I assume you would have to dig up that preset, and assign it to a particular PC slot? Or does that get automatically assinged? How the hell does that make any sense?

Hopefully UA owners on the forum can test this out when the update arrives.

I probably won't even bother updating if it's just MIDI stuff. It's so fast to get to any setting on the Golden that I have no idea if the preset switch even works :idk The app was deleted long ago

this will like double the value of my knuckles if I can CC all channel and knob settings from one DAW midi clip, holy shit u could actually rack drawer it in the loop and use it for more than one sound
Is the Knuckles a good digital Rectifier representation? Tempted to try one.

This would be a kick ass pedal for me, if it had an IR loader. I like Rectos with Creambacks. No option here.
I don't know much about UA pedals and obviously it wouldn't make much sense to add extra money when it should be standard......

But is it an option to disable IRs and you could have an IR loader at the end of the chain?

In Henning's video he says that the BT connection should be faster and more reliable, so that's a good reason to update if you ever want to use the app.

MIDI for these pedals is a huge improvement if you have several of them or want to use them with other MIDI controllable things.

Why did they give the option to disable the cab sim but no option to use your own IR? Typical UA BS.

I know this is a big deal, and it’s great UA is finally learning that MIDI exists, but my first thought was “now we have another MIDI connection format to deal with”. Now some pedals need 5-pin, some need 1/8”, and some need USB. Yay.

Some are 5-pin, some stupid ones are 1/8" (Boss 200 series, which I otherwise love that series), some 1/4" (Strymon and Meris) and then yeah USB (mostly USB-C, I believe).

The upside is that you've got companies like Morningstar making absolutely killer MIDI controllers for them, that work with any/all of the formats.

Not cheap though. $350.

Paint Audio stuff is more affordable; hopefully they update their stuff with USB-C, so adapters aren't required.
