Great video. I had actually never seen a neck removal like this, that "drill some holes and put a very narrow tip soldering iron type tool through them" is interesting.
Definitely cool.....Historic Makeovers in Florida does the same type of thing, only with hot hide glue like they used in the 50's, since they mostly work on guitars from that era (and re-issues).
Years ago, I had a similar repair done to my LP Studio but not with as much of a restoration needed. I dropped my Studio while playing it. Tiny strap buttons and my strap was way too worn to be using with it. It fell, landed flat on its back and ejected the neck tenon from the pocket. Almost was a clean break along the line but it took some of the top maple with it. Took it to a guy named Tom Pellerito. He only does work by referral and appointment and I learned of him through one of my dads coworkers. Tom was able to reset the neck and top wood and the guitar only needed some minor fret leveling from him. Saved my baby. At that time he didn’t have any paint on hand to touch it up but since mine had been so well used anyway (first guitar) I didn’t mind.
Here she is today. Still plays and sounds great, although I think it may be about time for a proper refret. 30 years old now and I’ve had her for 27.
