Someone worked a lot of time on them, perhaps even years.
 
The aesthetic of the attached expression pedal doesn't work for me and made the choice for me. I've been daydreaming about solo gigs utilizing the whole Showcase area and I'd most certainly have all my preset switching automated with the songs, I wouldn't even need the scribble strips in that context.

For my current rig, I have too many weird presets that wouldn't go over well if I hit the wrong one mid-song and color coding the LEDs doesn't really work for me mainly because I'm partially colorblind and can only rely on the solid colors to give me a frame of reference. Pink can look white or gray to me, greens can be yellow if they're too light, etc.

I get continuous development is a feature in current units, but I understand the sentiment that having the same effects as last gen on delivery is not ok.

I tried really hard dialing in the reverbs on Helix Native comparing them with other offerings from IK, UA, Soundtoys and Valhalla and I personally find them lacking. I was under the impression it was due to horse power, it needed to run on Helix hardware. But it was before I got an Yamaha Magicstomp. While not sounding particularly realistic, there's something very pleasing about how everything sounds. How it blends nicely with the core sound, even raising the effects volume it doesn't make things murky like Helix's reverb usually do, also the stereo spread is better. So I don't think its really the processing, it's something about the algorithms/filtering that's not IMO dialed in, at least for my taste.

Another example is the Pog2. Why did it sound so good and ultimately just musical? Trying to use pitch blocks in Helix is kind like ok, a bit harsh, I'd like to see at least a high cut on the effects block itself. But why did a simple octave up the Pog2 sounds so much better? If like to see this type of stuff addressed.

Yep, that's what I remember, although I also remember a very obvious statement that more newer effects will be in the pipeline. I think a thing that gave a misimpression maybe is that they will port every new effect they can onto the OG platforms. My personal suspicion is that that will mean most of them. Exceptions might be largely in the realm of pitch shifting, reverb, and maybe fancy delays. I'm sort of neutral about Helix reverbs to date. I'm not someone who likes to soak things in verb, but it would be cool to see the L6 guys come up with something that makes me change my tune on that. But them not having a super processor intensive new reverb lineup doesn't make me think it's prudent to wait and see. It's more the nuts and bolts I'm after, and for me reverb isn't in the nuts and bolts category. I'll be interested in seeing whether the other things you mention will work their way into the lineup, and whether any solutions find their way to the OG stuff.
 
I only have two problems with the Stadium at this point:

1. it’s totally thrown my previous decision to get an FM3 to replace my Stomp in the air lol. Even though the FM3 fits better for me despite its limitations, I’m pretty iffy on the idea of having a larger floor modeler (and the FM3 is already way bigger than the Stomp), and truthfully I wouldn’t use most of the fancier features, the Stadium looks so cool and I love the Helix approach..

And 2. the Helix / Stadium does need a better Phase 90 imo lol, so I was hoping for some remastered effects for things like that more than reverb, but maybe that will come later!

This is where I'm leaning at the moment. I really have no use for the pedal at this juncture, and unlikely the extra I/O will affect me. I made a quip the other day about the scribble strips and my memory, and I was 75% serious about that.

Of course most of my patches have a boost pedal, an amp, a cab, a chorus, dynamic ambient reverb, and sometimes a little room reverb. So I can probably stick with the current color conventions and get by.

Now I'm talking myself into Stadium notXL, lol.
 
I'm not sure if I should sell my Tone Master Pro now or wait for one more update in November. Maybe another spate of Blues Juniors, Bassbreakers (other wattages!), and "same as another amp, just with no bright cap and a different cabinet" will boost those used prices! 🤣

I debated waiting to see if NDSP would drop some sort of cool update to capitalize on that, but I'm not betting on that shit lolll
