Line 6 Helix Stadium

Complete horseshit. I said nothing of the sort at all. It’s a pattern. Even @Digital Igloo mischaracterizes what I said and how I feel. That doesn’t surprise me because that serves who writes his checks. It’s on his interest to do so. What’s your excuse?

Call me all the names you want. It strengthens your bullshit allegations in your mind I guess.

You guys make all the excuses you need for buying this. Call it ā€œa work in progresssā€ or whatever you like.

My position has been distorted, mangled and treated with hostility. Let’s sum it up once again from the horse’s mouth:

I’m disappointed it won’t launch with a completely new set of next gen effects. I expected the Stadium to have better and newer effects than my HX One from day one. Since it won’t I am disappointed.

Oh, the insanity of such a position. What a complete dumbass for even considering that desire much less mentioning it.

Spin it in to whatever you want that supports your peace of mind. I stood up in the crowd and mentioned that I found the Emperor’s new clothes disappointing.

Wake me when the 3.8 equivalent of firmware is released.
On the point of efx, I believe this is a fair criticism. Time and time again I hear comparisons of helix with fractal and Kemper where the biggest complaint is the verb and delay quality in Helix.

There is zero doubt that the new Stadium has knocked it out of the park with respect to Ui/Ux and features.

It seems fair to question the lack of focus on efx quality.

It may prove to be a non issue. They may release an update that brings them into line with H9. We will see.

Done. We’ve figured out you’re not a fan of Powercab. ;)

That’s not what I meant!
Even using it in "FRFR" mode, I couldn’t get along with it. Felt disconnected, like there was additional latency happening. And it didn’t seem flat.
Compared directly to a Laney LFR, I just preferred the LFR.
But I liked the idea of the speaker emulation, but (just my opinion) I liked that even less.

So who will go for the big daddy XL and who will wait for the regular Stadium?

Scribble strips worth living with the expression pedal and extra size (assuming for someone with no real use or desire for said expression pedal)?

(Those who want the exp pedal - choice is simple).

I'm not an expression pedal guy, and I don't need scribble strips - the color is all I need. The standard floor is exactly the device I was waiting on, otherwise I'd be sticking with my QC for the form factor.

As much as I’m absolutely geeked about the Stadium, I’ll probably wait until if/when they release a ā€œStompā€ style. I’ve got the FM9, so I don’t need another modeler that size. But I definitely regret selling my Stomp(s).

I'm going the full fat XL. I love scribble strips and the size still isn't monstrous (to me). I had the Helix Floor for awhile (shocker I know) and it was one of my favorite digital units. Something about it was just a joy to use to me!

Hoping I can replicate the same feeling with the stadium

How exactly do you know it won't? They said it'll ship with 16 new amp models. That's likely all they can (or want to) publish now. Nothing more, nothing less. For any judgement you'll have to wait until the thing is in fact released.

I may be wrong, but I think DI said so in one of the interviews.

I get continuous development is a feature in current units, but I understand the sentiment that having the same effects as last gen on delivery is not ok.

I tried really hard dialing in the reverbs on Helix Native comparing them with other offerings from IK, UA, Soundtoys and Valhalla and I personally find them lacking. I was under the impression it was due to horse power, it needed to run on Helix hardware. But it was before I got an Yamaha Magicstomp. While not sounding particularly realistic, there's something very pleasing about how everything sounds. How it blends nicely with the core sound, even raising the effects volume it doesn't make things murky like Helix's reverb usually do, also the stereo spread is better. So I don't think its really the processing, it's something about the algorithms/filtering that's not IMO dialed in, at least for my taste.

Another example is the Pog2. Why did it sound so good and ultimately just musical? Trying to use pitch blocks in Helix is kind like ok, a bit harsh, I'd like to see at least a high cut on the effects block itself. But why did a simple octave up the Pog2 sounds so much better? If like to see this type of stuff addressed.

This is something I missed in the keynote: a Stadium Cab that competed with Fender's FR12.
I feel like they’d still stuff it with shit I don’t want or need and make it $1350, lol. I’m a big L6 fan, but that’s one always seemed like a slight misfire to me. I’m guessing the lack of updates might agree.

I’m torn. I want the small size and the expression pedal in the OG was its only feature I wished wasn’t there.
However with all the possible controls you can put in a preset I think the scribble strips are too important to leave out.

So I’m going big for the Stadium and hoping for a portable desktop solution in the future. I’m thinking a Line 6 laptop with audio IO abundance in a shock proof case will do.
