What a load of assumptions. Who said a thing about developing it overnight? Who has said when they started development?

My attitude? What exactly is my attitude? That I’d prefer a finished and complete product? Your talk about hiring more developers hinges on a fictional timeline not being discussed or even known. And then you leap to folks being laid off? And now at the end, even though all of it is based on assumptions, things I’ve never said or alluded to, my reputation is ruined?

And I’m the one living in a fictional fantasy world. No, you are just projecting a whole lot of bullshit on me.

Because I wish it were launching with next gen effects. What a joke.

Uh, DI said when they starting working on it. Some things go back before Helix but he said the design requirements date to 2017. That’s 8 years ago.

You keep saying over and over that you want a finished and completed product at launch like a brain dead parrot, and you didn’t seem open to delaying the launch for years more to make that happen. I assume you also wouldn’t be willing to pay a lot more to make it happen without delay, not that your willingness matters because we do know that vast majority of the market wouldn’t be interested in a $3,000+ Helix unit. So no assumptions needed to know they couldn’t magically get more development done without delaying launch or without it costing more or without leaving off other features. Thats called reality. Its a big feature of the real world most of us live in.

So yeah, once again we all perfectly understand what you want and why you want it. You have said it plenty of times. Most of us also understand why that is unrealistic without some offsetting downside. No matter how many times you repeat the same stupid statement, it will never get less stupid. I am sorry that is beyond your comprehension level.

My dude it is launching with next gen effects (that also happen to have already been released for their last gen HD because it’s capable of running it!)

That is COMPLETE nonsense!!!!! I work with plenty of businesses that put a LOT of money into developing the best products they can because they believe in the long run it will make them money. Some of them are spending billions of dollars, a few I have worked with in just the last few years are spending 10's of billions of dollars.

There are a LOT of companies that DO NOT want to compete on price selling the cheapest commodity crap to the masses. They feel like the profits are lower at the low end and Chinese cloners are going to win at that anyway, so they want to create premium products for those willing to pay more for quality.

If you think all businesses are trying to make a profit by selling the cheapest junk to the masses, perhaps it is the businesses you have been supporting, and a look in the mirror is in order.
I fucking love you.

I think it’s more that sound quality should be a given, it won’t really be possible to distinguish between them, so it won’t be the deciding factor like it might have been on current gen. But yes, it has to sound at least as good as an AxeFX or NAM Hyper Accuracy or NDSP plugins or whatever comparable product you like the sound of. I don’t see why that won’t be achievable.
I believe that all of the top contenders have more than sufficiently good sound quality; however, there are always people that prefer one or the other, or compare digital analysis of the different devices. I do tend to agree with you that "good tone" is a given at this level today.... or at least it is expected ;).

@Orvillain, Thanks for quoting this. I missed it.

I develop products for a living. I suspect that this one likely cost in the neighborhood of 5-10 million to develop and that is on the back of what they already had. It would cost a great deal more if you had to start from scratch.

Product management 101 gets you to your statement and is taught the world over. Line 6 DOES offer low end products, but this one isn't one of them. Just like you can get an inexpensive PRS ..... or a REALLY expensive PRS. That really high end product isn't expected to sell in the volumes that the less expensive one is; however, it will likely have better margins AND it provides marketing for the lower end products that "come along for the ride".
