Line 6 Helix Stadium

One advantage the Helix Stadium will have compared to a new Fractal product here in Europe is the lack of the considerable but questionable G66 markup.

Even the Stadium XL might end up cheaper than current FM9 if Line6 does USD price -> EUR for a rough VAT included price.

Only fractal market I’ve seen reasonable is the used market. They show up now and then. I can get a fm3 for 1055 usd or 914 euro. The only one in Sweden…(probably not, but it’s only one up for sale)

800-900 € seems pretty common for used FM3 Mk1 in Finland.

The new prices are hard to justify against the competition.

The considerable but questionable G66 markup comes back to screw you again if you want to sell your used Fractal product, as the used market is (at least more) global. So you often can not get a reasonable part of that markup back.

If you’re bragging about how much money you make you are either A: a serious douche or B: a liar 🤥

Every friendly and down to earth wealthy person I’ve met has been just that, friendly and down to earth, and money doesn’t enter the conversation.

One rich dude I met owned a ranch a shit ton of cows, one day he roped a cow and the rope caught his finger and ripped it clean off. He kept the finger in a jar and WANTED to show me that shit he was so proud lol
I bet that cow is slaughtered now?

Yes . I bet we see an AXE 4 soon that is 99% facelift too. There’s a product cycle with this that isn’t there with amps fortunately. The people that are happy with modelers will all buy new ones but I don’t think it will expand the market.
Honestly I’m not really sure that will ever come.

When you listen to interviews with @Digital Igloo he fought hard for touchscreen on the original helix but was low on the totem pole and was overridden. Now he’s top dog and looks like the UI was a major part of the development from the start.

Everything I’ve ever read from cliff sounds like his sole obsession is the modelling (not saying that’s bad, they are the gold standard for a reason) but he definitely suffers from the engineering brain and likely needs to cede some of the product development to somone with a completely different viewpoint. Christophe Kemper is cut from the same cloth.

I don’t say this with malice, I’m an engineer myself with the same mentality, and own a company making equipment. The best thing I ever did was give free rein to others on aspects I was reluctant to give up control of not in my wheelhouse.

This thread brought to you by the insecure LINE6 fan club.

By the way all the the new products are scrambling to cop NAM like tech, and put it in a box. GitHub freeware brings and industry to it's knees to win a space race that's aleady been one.
Everyone else is a copycat.
NAM is awesome and I see if being an industry standard over time. However, it’s pretty hard to monetize an open source product when every company has the same capabilities as you for free. It’s the Linux of the guitar industry, many companies will take it and use it behind the scenes but it’s not ever going to become “the thing” as it’s own product.

Helix Stadium non-XL sizing versus other modelers, if it is indeed 16x9.5".

Top: GX-10, GX-100, Helix Stadium, FM9, GT-1000, Kemper Stage
Right: Nano Cortex, HX Stomp, GT-1000 Core, Ampero 2 Stomp, Ampero 2 Stage, Helix Stadium

It's definitely in the "chunkier than many others" territory, but still smaller than the other flagship large floor units.
Adding to this. Both regular and XL

Ya I mean from 2020 at least it’s mostly valid. I frequent other forums…don’t think for a second there aren’t 2000 post threads debating the difference in sound between hand soldered vs PCB amps, new vs NOS tubes, magic diodes…and don’t even get me started on the probably million posts on the differences between PAF style pickups…then the king of them all - Tonewood

The good news and silver lining in that is the more time to port the amps to Angoura

All depends on your perspective. I was more unhappy with the reverbs than with the amp models.

I know people rag on the helix amp models compared to the fractal, but for the ones I use the difference isn’t so dramatic. And the Helix has one amp model that I think is better than the similar fractal ones. Don’t get me wrong, on the whole the fractal amps are undeniably better overall. But I wasn’t unhappy with the helix amps for what I was doing.

Maybe they’ll get around to using that extra horsepower for some better reverbs in the future. Fortunately, I’ve got an FM9 that is killer so if they never do I’m fine. I do miss some things about Helix though, if the reverbs get there I’ll definitely pick up an XL.
