Line 6 Helix Stadium

I don't care much about those features in particular, mind you, i just hate hardware tethered to cloud services which might not exist 10 years down the line. I know for a fact i can plug in any OG Helix device down the line, and they will always work.

I absolutely agree on all accounts. The potential issue with the OG Helix might however be that without an up to date HX Edit you won't be able to organize IRs or do backups.

Crazy talk, but I already prefer some HX models to their FM9 versions (e.g. Revv Generator) even though the FM9 is still my main gigging rig....

....for now.
I honestly don’t use that many amps in Fractal lately it been JVM orange and Splawn
I have to admit I would miss those a bit

I'm not really following how Helix (assuming you mean Stadium?) allows for editing of all parameters in a preset without changing context (no open/close actions?) to a given effect.

Not all parameters. But the most relevant ones. Just as on the current version, only that it's extended to 8 parameters visible at once. And during all those operations, the signal flow chart display will stay as is. So with the touchscreen it'll be a single click on a block and *bam* there's your 8 most relevant parameters ready to be tweaked (let's just hope they will adress the parameter order for some things).
So it's tap-adjust, tap-adjust instead of tap-adjust-close, tap-adjust-close. When doing complexed editings, that kinda stuff starts to matter.

Talking about all that: I wish they will come up with some performance controls one day (ideally with 2 pages of 8 controls, or maybe even more pages). FAS has them and it's a very decent idea.

I'm sure I'd miss a couple too, but having the full complement of existing HX amps to go with the new ones at launch will tide me over until Proxy arrives.

Just wait until I hop onto that train. It'll end that discussion instantly. And possibly get me a lifetime ban.

<just kidding, don't>

This is a known issue with the effects loops on all the current HX hardware. And from what DI said about the headroom of the new inputs on the effects loops, it's addressed.
Yeah I picked that up from the video but I’m definitely in the “trust but verify” camp, got bit twice by this one.

Why in the living h3ll are we talking about "legacy media" and alluding to politics ("fact checking") in a thread about a Helix device?

Any idea why they dumped AES/EBU? At least S/PDIF but i'd prefered AES, especially for live use. Maybe there will be through the nexus stuff but another box...

Edited: Never mind, the D10 box will satisfy all digital needs and has AES/EBU.

Since it's a Stadium, should I finally be able to "play" in "pitch" with it?

I'll go hide myself now :bag

For the Showcase functionality, it would be great if it would also stream (since it has wifi).

So you can stream a backing track from youtube or a song from spotify without out needing to download and send it to the Stadium.

That might be possible
Eric said he had to bite his tongue as there is as much they can’t talk about now as the information they did release yesterday some cool big stuff

Wow, I've got to say this looks pretty amazing. Now I'm an old school kind of guy who places sound quality above all else, so I will reserve judgement until they are in users hands for a while. But having past experience with Helix Floor and Helix Native, plus a bunch of other stuff over the years, I expect the sound quality will be pretty competitive to the best. UI and other functionality looks off the charts.

While my FM3 blows me away on sound/feel quality, effects, and some of the functionality like gapless channel changes, I wouldn't mind a better UI so I will stay tuned. Interested to see where this takes the market over the next few years.

Congratulations Line 6 on a great new product! And please don't follow NDSP down the over promise, underdeliver road! That left a bad taste in my mouth 💩
