Line 6 Helix Stadium

Fractal can't and they won't create something comparable. They know their lane and they'll stay in it. That lane is quality amp modeling and effects. User experience will never be a strong suit for them. Not only do they not have expertise in that area, they have no interest in it. There's a niche for what they do well and they'll be ok. But it will become just that, a niche.

I think you're right. I would just [re] add however that todays I'm being a dipshit and starting a political thread decision is [tragically] really going to hurt them ..... secondly, they no longer have a lock on the "quality amp modeling and effects" effects lane. What if Stadium comes out and its at least as good if not better than the latest Fractal FW ? Hell, thousands upon thousands of people already much prefer Helix or QC or Kemper over Fractal.

In 2025, other than on forums like this one, the "who is best at digital amp and efx emulations" war is over - its a redundant comparison - L6 know this. Guitarists want features, functions, ease of use, intuitive UI's, form factor, connections etc.......

Just my personal view, but if Fractal put all of their eggs in the one "we just have the best Amps and EFX" basket, I think that is a terribly short-sighted route for them to take. It worked great up until Helix and QC and Kemper, but it is not a sustainable "angle" simply because its objectively "unproveable" and you can already get awesome Pro tones out of a $400 Ampero.

Just my 2c.

What’s the difference in processing hardware? Apologies if I’ve missed that i these 24 pages - haven’t read every single comment, must admit.

Because yeah, more DSP is one of the things I was looking forward to in whatever came out. Otherwise, Stadium looks effing great.

What he said was: "more DSP". Also of interest, it has a GPU for machine learning. It seems like a forward looking design.

Helix Mk1 release day was a big day. Helix Stadium is orders of magnitude bigger.

Bring on the audio-demo video's !

Plus, I just saw - I think - its a lot smaller and sh*loads lighter !!!!

That’s strange but I have no hype .
The axe 3 cover all my needs already
Yes it seems to have all the features but maybe their profiling won’t be that good, maybe the product will have bugs like the helix… I owned 2 helix (floor,lt) and the HX, and all 3 need to be repaired. (Jack output, firmware freeze the unit etc etc)

I don’t have faith in line 6 anymore after all of that.

Cliff, even if he is « rude » sometimes, listen to us, and try to do his best . Personally I stay on his side.

In the same way that Fractal has no interest in chasing the user experience of Helix Stadium, I don't think Line6 has any interest in chasing the minute detail control that Fractal offers. For people who want access to 200 parameters in the amp block, or want to design feedback loops in their presets, or design complicated envelopes and pedal response curves, Fractal will still be the modeler of choice. Plus, there will always be people who simply prefer Fractal's amp modeling and don't care about user experience. There aren't a lot of those people out there, but there are enough to keep Fractal going.

Really glad you prefer your Fractal :) And I disagree that Cliff is "rude" - I just don't think he suffer's fools very well - as none of us should :)

I would only take issue with your comment about "listening to users".

This new Stadium pedal contains literally every single feature I can think of since Helix MK1 was released that people have requested and a sh*t-ton more ... so I would just add that the L6 crew are also brilliant at listening to and incorporating users requests.

They just cant do it every week or month or 3 months as they quite literally have a worldwide massive user base using multiple different versions of HX - so changes have to be done in a much different way.

Can I just say I appreciate the no bullshit release? No teaser to the teaser. No 3 part 30 min Soon videos. Not making us watch them jerk themselves off before they tell us what the product is.

Yeah. At first I was a bit annoyed about all the praise of the previous versions, but during those it already dawned on me that you'd only do this if you had something bigger to present. Kinda like a warm up.
Followed by what was indeed a very excellent product presentation. I also liked that it was merely fact-driven, nothing like "the bestest of the bestest" blurb. Which obviously also has to do with the fact that they actually *have* quite some stuff to present, so no hyperbole was required to pimp the presentation.

All in all, great product launch, @Digital Igloo!

God I really hope Line 6 changed their approach to fixing and tweaking released/existing models. The old "we don't want to accidentaly change the sound or ruin presets" doesn't hold a candle and never did.
If the model is found to be less than accurate or missing features, bright caps, or whatever, for the love of god, fix it, no bs this time.

Clifford changes his models on a weekly basis, no one ever bitched about it for too long.

Is that digital igloo?

No. This is:

Agreed. It was/is an easy work around. Just delete the Amp block, save the preset as a new name, re-open and re-add the Amp block - done.

But annoying to have to do.
