Line 6 Helix Stadium

.... has anything been said about a "Stadium Stomp" (?)

Surely there will have to be one sooner rather than later (?)

From what little I have seen, it looks like there are three units so far-Stadium, Stadium XL, and Stadium Floor. The Stadium floor I saw mentioned somewhere, but I've been all over the place so I don't remember where I saw it.

I’ve missed much of that shit show apparently, but it might make sense why they announced that when they did. Imagine trying to make a sale of the MKII unit tomorrow. :ROFLMAO:

“Ya see, it’s the same shit, but for $1,700 you’ll get a future FW update”

We tried to warn them :rofl

Maybe someone should drop back in there & start poking fun @ the fanboies that rushed to buy their precious MK2 units...

:rubshands

I need to try to retrace my steps and see if I can remember where I saw mention of the third one. 'Cause it's going to make me crazy if I don't now.

I'm thinking what I saw was not accurate, as I'm not seeing it anywhere else. Looks like just the two units.

Okay, I'll be back when the actual product ships & to gets to y'all, after y'all suss every *gritty* detail via a couple of million posts!

It's a nice distraction from the insanity of the real world. Sometimes a fella just needs a good distraction to keep his mind in a good place.

Hoping these new units will have some impressive A/D D/A converters and ultra low latency, combined with uber powerful DSP. It will be wonderful if Line 6/Yamaha can achieve Boss GT1K levels of ultra-low latency.

Major caveat - we clearly don't know how "Stadium" will sound or feel, but we know L6 (i) don't f*ck around when they under promise and over deliver and (ii) D.I went out of his way to point out that this new modeling engine is nothing to do with the old-Helix modeling engine.

So .... as a very happy FM3 owner, today I just now read that

=> the China / US I'm being a dipshit and starting a political thread deal is now done ... from initial readings " ... Chinese imports will not change from their current level of 55%. which is made up of the pre-existing %25 Duty + an additional %30 ... "

In a very rough quick calculation, that is going to add major $$ to each Fractal Unit for them to maintain current profitability margins whilst at the same time, hopefully, seeing no drop off in sales due to higher prices.

That then immediately got me to thinking how Fractal [might] view this new L6 release

=> my best guess is that given they are a [relatively] small company, and looking at this product and the whole ground up new engine and features, both software and hardware, etc... I just cant, i.m.h.o, imagine any way they could build anything with even remotely this feature set for anywhere near this price point .. of course though I could be wrong

I think this new Stadium will be seen as a watershed product in every aspect - its hard to even imagine where it will be in, 1,2 3, 5 , 7 etc... years time. Buy the box once, and get another ~10 years or so of updates ... who the f*ck else does this .... well Kemper, lets not go there :)

Interesting times ahead.

Fractal can't and they won't create something comparable. They know their lane and they'll stay in it. That lane is quality amp modeling and effects. User experience will never be a strong suit for them. Not only do they not have expertise in that area, they have no interest in it. There's a niche for what they do well and they'll be ok. But it will become just that, a niche.

Agreed. In retrospect it would have been great to “believe” this when Helix was released, as a user/buyer, and that Line 6 were the ones who enforced that “plan”. But, it was as new for Line 6 as it was for buyers. So naturally people waited for replacements to soon. Some moved away and some sticked with it. There’s still new Helix buyers all the time.

But it’s clear from the presentation, they’re definitely are doing the “same” concept with probably better plans and roadmaps. And with lessons learned from the start this time. I to suspect these machines are even more future proofed that Helix gen 1 was. They probably couldnt make gen 1 as future proofed as they maybe wanted. But fuck… gen 1 is still good, works and sounds great so… it all planned out anyway.
And gen 1 has done well for itself enduring fierce competition from -20 and forward.

What’s the difference in processing hardware? Apologies if I’ve missed that i these 24 pages - haven’t read every single comment, must admit.

Because yeah, more DSP is one of the things I was looking forward to in whatever came out. Otherwise, Stadium looks effing great.

Probably quite significant difference. Through the years they’ve taken taken a lot of heat for the DSP, being a “little” on the lesser side (although still very powerfull).

The consequences also applied to following units like LT, Stomp, stomp xl, Pod Go and so on.. they couldn’t have made those “better” dsp wise than Floor/Rack for obvious reasons.

I suspect they have plenty headroom now for the cheaper future products of the new line.
