Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

Seems like Mod 2 is at a little higher volume than Mod 1?

They both sounded pretty darned good to me and close. I think I prefer Mod 2, but it might be a setup thing (volume, bottom end, etc). Also, Mod 1 reverb seemed to wash out the guitar too much. Mod 2 I greatly preferred the reverb on it. More natural feeling.
There are variances. Many. I was actually surprised I could get the effects as close as I did as quickly as I did. The fractal multidelay is a beast and I started off this exercise just seeing if I could get the Stadium quad delay in the ballpark. The FAS version has way more fine tuning.
That is still a WIP. There is also the mid thing to the Stadium and eq alone doesn't cut it. It's a boldness / muddiness in the compression. It sounds awesome on low gain material but it starts to pronounce itself more as the gain gets higher. The effects also interact with the core sound so it adds it's own thing.

To be honest I didn't spend that much time to make them exact, just to be in the ballpark and I like both. Heck, they aren't even the same IRs or the same guitar or the same amp 2204/2203 (The IR is different (freeformeq) as I was trying different things to pull down the mids....eq...multiband comp (still the L6 weak point). Hence my request for an L6 dynamic eq block.
Funny enough just like Leon added bass and treble to his proxy demo video, I did the same with the IR, more high end and tons at 120.
I didn't create this to make it a contest though. Like I said it started as a multitap exercise and it's difficult to summarize the pages and pages of FAS parameters including the multitap modulation page with what is in the Stadium. It passes for me.

I love the playing but tone still sound really dark to me compared to an 800
I pulled the two mics further away from the cone’s center. It was too bright for my liking with the guitar on its own. But bring them closer and it’ll bite your head off.

Here you go, mics pulled center

Nothing dark or rolled off about that. Great gritty tone, man.

Stadium's Marshall lineup might be small, but there are a lotta hits.

That Agoura 2203 and Superbass are pretty special. Have all of my "vintage" Marshall needs covered. Jubilee handles the hard rock/hair metal thing perfect, and does fantastic for metal boosted.

I am watching the latest Synergy 800 launch videos and that thing will tear you head off
And you want that? I struggle mightily with the amount of treble on the 2203 on the OG helix and Agoura. Its borderline unusable for me. I need an EQ block after the amp to roll off the screeching highs. I guess my Marshall tone tastes are closer to EJ or Andy Timmons (but not THAT dark). This is why I prefer the BE-100 although that amp has a bloated low end thing that I need to use a HPF to tame.

A stock 2203 is typically a VERY bright amp. I go back and forth on whether the Agoura 2203 could be using a different value bright cap than the Hx model, because I agree - the Hx model seems brighter. I do really like the Agoura 2203 though.

I mean it depends on the context , if I want a solo or Rythm to cut through a dense mix like a Recto yes I would chose brighter 9/10 times

I’ll have to play with it and see if backing the bright cap value down on the fractal model could match the L6 models. IIRC there are a number of fractal 2203/800 models - do you recall the name of the specific fractal model you’re referencing?
2203 High, or whatever. Fractal added that same model after Line6 introduced it in the Helix.

There are a couple things on the Stadium that I haven't figured out.

1) When I've got an amp and cab block in the path but then go to change the amp model, despite deselecting the "Add Cab" option, it still changes the cab already in the path. I don't want the cab changed, I just want the amp changed.
2) How do I link an amp and cab if they become unlinked (SIC wise)? I remember someone saying, drag the amp on the cab block or the cab on the amp block, but that does not work for me.

Thanks!

Having a certain cab load with the amp is a convenient feature, but it can sometimes be frustrating if you have a cab dialed in and you just want to change the amp. It seems that you have to go into the cab block focus view and uncheck the amp-cab link function. Then, you should be able to just change the amp. You can then turn the link switch back on to re-link them. I'm not sure if there's an easier way to do all that.

I did figure out a while back that sometimes for some reason when switching cabs, the link will go away. You can then drag the amp block and bump it into the cab block and they will re-link. However, I can only mange to get cabs to re-link if the amp/cab blocks loaded in as a linked pair. If you have the "add cab" off, I couldn't seem to figure out a way to get them linked afterwards.

THANK YOU. This cab auto-select issue has been doing my head in. Just want to switch amps and keep the cab/IR I have dialled in, and the bastard still changes to a preferred cab/IR. Quite irritating, I just figured it was a bug.

The changing cabs when changing amps thing has drove me nuts too,
Ive figured my own little work around,
Copy the cab block before changing amps,
Change amps, let it auto load whatever default cab, than paste your old cab block over the default loaded one.
