Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

I just had a thought about this so forgive me if I’m wrong…but…for those who aren’t running their actual set list on Showcase…

I think you could load, say 5 presets, each with a flag to call them up. Create a song with no music. Just have a 5 measure 4/4 length to it.

Spread the flags evenly on the downbeat of each measure. On beat 1 it calls the preset, it silently advances to beat 4 where the pause flag stops it from going to next measure.

Loop the 5 bar song.

Set it up so you have a toggle foot switch to start or reverse the play back

You end up with ‘Performance Mode à la Kemper!

I have literally not even touched Showcase. My band doesn't use clicks or backing tracks or have lights to program or anything like that. Your solution could work, but, seriously, I just want eight-stomp mode back.

@Digital Igloo, is that a possibility, or could you give me an idea of when the "better solution" you discussed below might show up in an update? I really don't want to go through my 60-plus presets to add Preset Up and Preset Down in the Command Center, and then remember to do that for every new preset I create.

There's no 8-switch Stomp mode in Stadium; both Stomp A and Stomp B are 10-switch. We ditched it because eventually, there'll be a better solution and we didn't want methods conflicting with one another. In the meantime, you can assign FS1 to Bank Up and FS7 to Bank Down from the Command Center, but this is per-preset. Easy to copy/paste them into other presets tho'.

This vid took way longer to put together than I first thought... Proxy (and everything really) absolutely shining here.
I chose the JVM410H cause I thought it would give me some trouble but turns out they're some of the best captures I've ever done. I dont usually put things upto a microscope like this, so even doing it I was pretty impressed. I legitimately couldnt tell whats what if this was a blind shootout (I just labelled everything in the video and I cant still barely hear when its crossing audio sources)

I dont normally spam links but this is a good one. I've attached the proxy clones, links for ToneX and NAM are in the video, all free downloads if you want to check them all out.

Hey Nathan,

That was well done. Thanks!

As you point out, I can't see anyone reliably picking one out of the group and saying "This is the real amp". They are all so very close.

Any possibility of doing a video on which one is easiest to tweak from a capture someone else made? Maybe pick an amp sound on a specific song, then get captures of that amp for multiple devices and tweak them to best match the sound within that song. This is my real life use case for live gigging in a cover band.

First of all Nathan - whilst these aren't my usual go to tone - there were dialed in really well and very useable / musical ... as opposed to the ususal "Chainsaw plugged into a HM2" so many others do :)

Differences are mathematical / miniscule / literally splitting Atoms here.

The bit to me where the differences were "slightly obvious"- and I use that term in its most minimal sense - were when you split the clips and ran them sequentially

To my total surprise I was stunned by Proxy.

When it went from Real Amp to Proxy I just could not honestly or realistically hear the differences.

When it then went to both Tonex and NAM ... both of these had, to me, a touch more gain and congestion - and the Top end was ... I dont know the word ... but a bit "extra crispy" compared to the Real Amp.

Seriously - best Video yet on Y/T by a mile doing this comparison - you win the Internet today :)

If I were L6 I'd post it on their website !!!

And the most amazing this is that Proxy is like only 15 - 16 days old.

This is a stunning result for all of the platforms, but especially for Proxy.

Awesome work mate.

Leon, Burgs and you - leading the way ..... never bet against an Aussie ! :)

Really really great stuff mate !

These are absolutely amazing! The gooeyness is so glorious in these!

I bought a JVM410 last year and fell in love with it... until I was laid off 2 week later and returned it . Something about those kids needing to eat and they can't eat the gooeyness of an amp, so I returned it. I realize this probably is not the right forum to make that argument. :)

And I don't have to deal with the hissyness of it, that I couldn't control with 3 noise gates.

It's so nice to have these tones back, thank you!

Totally makes sense, I think with captures splitting hairs it would 90% come down to personal pref on overall QC / Stadium / Kemper / [insert device]. I also dont usually do that kinda thing so maybe someone who does would have efficiencies I dont etc, not my wheelhouse

I thought the general noise of OD1 Red would crucify the captures but they held up well. I also mentally ignore anything past 5 on the gain dial on those channels cause its just OP. Yeah I'll get cracking on the bigger JVM pack... basically need to spend more time with the amp to figure out whats worth capturing instead of just ripping 50 captures and having people wade through it all. I'm sure there a couple sweet spots for every channel and I can keep it somewhat condensed (for a 12 channel amp LOL).
