Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

Checks date, what are the over and under odds we get proxy in the next 7-8 days

Waiting GIF
Hmm I will say 50/50

Real Revv - channel 4 (Red) with aggression on red (equivalent to 2 on the models):

The load was a real V30 4x12 cab - an Orange if you're curious.

Stadium Revv - equivalent settings:

Stadium Revv - same settings as above, but treble and presence increased a lot to try and get the thing sounding brighter and punchier:

The same impulse response in all cases. The differences you hear are almost emblematic of my entire experience with Stadium.
It is an issue IMO.

Is that first hand experience with Proxy speaking?

There was a thread that got deleted on TOP about the validity of null tests. Regardless certain comments that were posted gave me the impression that Proxy may not fare well in Null tests based on the mechanism utilized. Oh no Leo.

Not sure what you are referring to.

I was referring to the Agora amp models behaving quite different from the real amps. What @Orvillain 's clips show is exactly what my 5153 clips showed. I also posted a eq match of my Marshall Silver Jubilee vs the Agora Jubilee and it has the same issues.

I was simply asking if your view included personal hands on experience proxy.
It doesn't sound like it. Sorry for the confusion.

Where is your Jubilee post?

Glad y'all are helping to keep this stuff top of mind.

I try not to get caught up in the muck and mire, but accuracy matters especially at this price point and with a brand new modeling engine. Line 6 is actively investigating the disparity, tho, and I have faith they'll figure it out eventually. I have found the Silver Jubilee and Revv Purple settings that work for me, and I have since set it and forgotten it.

My opinion might not be shared by all.
I can work with the models not being be exact replications. I actually feel I have some great tones out of the Stadium as it stands.
However, once we embark into the capture/profile arena, my expectations are very high. I expect Line 6 to work hard for this, as I don't feel that I should have to inject my $300 Tonex solution into my $2500 Stadium solution to get accurate model reproduction.

I think Line 6 shares this opinion! As do I.

But one thing that I think will be important to remember is that no capture platform has achieved perfection right out of the gate. Proxy will most certainly get stretched to its limits and beyond by amp topographies and pedal behavior that Line 6 hasn't thought to or been able to train it on yet.

What we're likely getting in this first release is an initial stage that will help Line 6's cloud/training infrastructure get an exponential increase in input and data, and then we'll likely continue to see rapid product improvements in the next however many firmwares.

I agree it needs to be as good or better than NAM, QC v2 and TONEX v2, and have a bunch of usability improvements or what’s the point of developing something new? If you can’t build a better mouse trap just adopt NAM and make a nice librarian for the profiles downloaded.

NAM could still be a part of Proxy down the line. There are a lot of ways they could and will go with it, but the only thing we can be sure of is you won't see all of them with the very first release firmware.

I agree. You already know how good the competition is. Don't release anything until you know it's ready and it competes at a top tier, or you are just setting yourself up for bad press.

YT videos circulate forever and I can see the comparisons coming.

Yeah, pretty much. Plus, because we're using sufficient frequency-domain processes (alongside numerous time-domain processes), null tests don't really apply. I'm sure the YouTube comments will be thoughtful and nuanced.

Have they actually said anything to this effect? I personally haven’t seen any responses to those claims, and I’ve found that to be disconcerting. I’d love to be wrong. I don’t have eyes on all forums, and there’s stuff here that I miss as well, obviously.

They have. Something here when the 5153 disparities were first pointed out.

On a more general level, stuff that gets brought up repeatedly here is absolutely seen by their development team.

It may be a rowdy group around here, but they know most critiques are made in good faith, and often with empirical data to substantiate them.
