Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

You're shitting me. I don't think I've ever heard of a manufacturer removing features in firmware updates ever before.

I haven't seen it in music gear but with other stuff where as DI implied, a licensing agreement was lost. Hard to blame the vendor. If the third party won't extend a license, there is little you can do, especially if it is still covered by a patent.

I am wondering if we will be able to use an agoura model and a proxy capture in the same patch, possibly enhancing the feel of the capture?

My Stadium XL finally arrived, and I just played with a couple of Agoura models, which are great! Can’t wait to try it with the PowerCab+.

With the Helix Floor, I use the L6 link to the PC+ to keep things digital all the way. Anything I need to know now that I’ll be going 1/4” line out from the Stadium to the PC+? Set the 1/4” to line level, I assume? @Digital Igloo

Yeah I think it’d be line level. Or just use an XLR.

Hold up. I have absolutely no idea what happened. Only guessed. The only other thing I could imagine happening is that Uli siced his lawyers on them many, many years after the fact, which would be less likely. But again, I have no clue.

4 Agoura amps (2 per path), 4 Proxy clones (2 per path), or any combination thereof.

Yes, line level.

Out of curiosity, does the Stadium have any call home functionality for logging errors?
Had an instance where the stomp footswitches remained dark on 2 boots. next boot was fine.

if there's no remote logging, my suggestion would be to incorporate such into the maintenance mode screen.
options:
- enable debug logging
- copy logs to local sd card
- send debug report to Line 6
....

I dont get this. I've got a fractal AM4 in the house. The AM4 tuner works well but I have no problem tuning with the HX strobe tuner at all. I also have an analog turbo tuner that I use for setups. This forum is the only place I've heard people complain about the L6 tuner.
Yeah I don't remember ever having any major issue with the Helix tuner. Also own a Turbo Tuner.

Just stumbled upon this old Helix tuner video. This old version looks less jumpy and more similar to what I see in my Tc-Electronics clip tuner. To me, this is more handy.

Snaphots Question

If you hold FS6, you get a menu with a bunch of functionality. One of the buttons is "Snapshots". How do I put that on Stomp A or B?

I know how to use CC to add a specific snapshot to StompA/B, but that Snapshot button would be great!

Not sure if this is exactly what you want, but you can make FS6 toggle to snapshot mode when tapped.

Global Settings -> Switches/Pedals -> Change FS6 Mode 1 or 2 to Snapshots

You lose the ability to toggle to Stomp A or B though. Or you can set it to Combo, which gives you 4 stomps and 4 snapshots.

Yeah I kind of like having Stomp A & B there.

Stadium has 6 footswitch modes—Stomp A, Stomp B, Preset, Snapshot, Combo, and Transport. More mode is sorta like a 7th.

Stomp A and Stomp B are special in that they can accommodate pretty much any switch from any of the other modes, but you need to expressly program them via the Command Center:
  1. From Stomp A or Stomp B mode, tap MENU and then Command Center.
  2. Tap the switch you want to assign and then tap a command type (boxes along the bottom of the screen). For example, if you want a snapshot switch, tap "Preset/Snap."
  3. Turn knob 2 (Command) to select what you want—Next Snap, Prev Snap, or a specific snapshot. The XL scribble strip (or Stadium's Play view) updates to display the new function.

Thanks for this. I'm not looking to add a specific snapshot (I have been able to do that).

I'd like to add the "Snapshot" button (after holding FS 6) to Stomp A/B - so that I can press that to bring up all the snapshots. Is this possible?

No, but if you're willing to sacrifice two Stomps, you could assign Combo to FS6 (with Upper and Lower Row set to Stomp A or B switches) and pressing FS1+FS7 jumps to Snapshot mode—and you can choose whether selecting a snapshot switch jumps back to Combo or stays there.

EDIT: In Preset, Snapshot, and Combo modes, FS1+FS7 can be set to Bank Up/Down, Preset Up/Down, Snapshot Up/Down, Song Up/Down, or Marker Up/Down. This can be set from the Global Settings or you can just hold both for 1 second to cycle through them.

Hi All, Really enjoying my Stadium, but have been having an issue I haven’t been able to fully resolve. In short, for some amps, I’m experiencing a loud volume spike or “whoosh” sound when switching amp channels via snapshots.

As an example, to replicate, if you start with a blank preset, add a Solid 100 amp+cab, open focus view, and switch between “Fresh n Clean” and “Pure Mule”.

As a temporary solution, I’ve been loading up two instances of the same amp in parallel, each set to a different amp channel, and using bypass to switch between them with snapshots. That seems to fix it, but is of course extra DSP intensive and negates the point of having multiple channels in the same amp.

Is this a known issue?

Stadium is floating point between paths so there's never any saturation between them. If you're not actually hearing clipping, it's likely safe to omit those two Gain blocks.

I've requested that we completely remove clipping indication from Output > Path 2A, Path 2B and Path 2A+2B blocks.
I noticed that there is an input and output meter in all the of the blocks when in focus view. I just realized that on some of my presets, I'm hitting the red in the output on the amp block. When I was initially setting everything up, I was trying to match the relative volume level of the factory presets. I took a look and the first factory preset and also some others hit the red there as well. Is this indicating clipping or does it not really matter?

Hey, @Digital Igloo, while you're here: Any update on the successor to 8-stomp mode? I REALLY miss having the Preset up/down buttons available on the left two switches and NEVER use all 10 stomps. I think you said you all were working on an alternate that would work better, but I can't even imagine what that would be.
