Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

I've always like the way it's been put that Axe FX is like a PC and the QC is a MacBook lol
Yeah, one is for people who know how computers work and one is for people to take to a coffee shop so everyone knows how much they spent on a laptop and then ditch for the next one as soon as the HD fills up.

OR UNIX lovers. If Linux ran everything I wanted it to I'd be using that as a daily driver. I'm more comfortable with command line then I am with GUIs that may or may not be easy to navigate (or even do what they're supposed to do)

Yeah but check out this sick song I can write on my Quad Cortex

it's in drop L# (on a 9 string) and goes 0------------00--------0--0-------------00----------0---0------------------------------1

Very nice. Here is a bass line for it, probably what a pro bass player would come up with:

[L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L | L-L-L-L]

Play it with sunglasses on to make it groove!

There’s a guy at tgp that put a stadium xl and a stadium floor together on one gigantic board along with every blue boss guitar synth ever made, it’s undeniably a bad ass collection of gear but I can’t help laughing at how excessive it is, it’s gotta be hard to even reach the stuff in the back. I don’t understand how he could possibly need all that on one board.

I used to believe that, and I think it used to be true. Not anymore. Except for gaming and things that need an Nvidea GPU, the M series Mac hardware offers more power, better efficiency and better battery life, and overall a much better bang for the buck on performance.

Windows 11 is now for gamers and people who don't know better.

meh, just dual boot and have both. put a linux partition on there too.

Mac's are still seriously underpowered when it comes to 3D graphics. Maybe it will change, but my 4090 pisses all over the ARM based macs for anything related to 3d content creation and machine learning.

It doesn't ultimately matter to me which is best, because I have to be proficient in using both anyway. But my Macbook is a live performance machine, and development machine. I don't use it for anything guitar related though.

You can strip a windows install pretty easily. I don’t really care honestly, anecdotally almost every project I’ve been involved with that has a Mac at the core has had SOME issue that couldn’t be fixed with a little Google Fu. That and Apple goes out of their way to obfuscate issues and fixes. I mostly just make the joke because I personally know way more people that bought a MacBook because MacBook than for any logical reason.

I still live in both worlds. Desktop PC with a 4080 for 3D simulation and whatever needs GPU number crunching (formerly training captures), windows laptop for certain work tied to MS crap, MacBook Pro for everything else. The MacBook is by far the better experience for the things it can do once I got used to it.

A desktop Mac with a 4090 would be a great combination.

I’ll say this in Apple’s favor - I used to be a Mac admin for 3 years before I moved to Linux/Server shit and I was responsible for all of the Apple environment on campus. Out of the roughly 500 devices (talking iMacs, MacBooks, Mac Minis and Mac Pros) only TWO had a hardware issue - one MacBook that just randomly died and wouldn’t boot and an iMac that kept shutting down on its own.
