Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

On the topic of delay, the Cosmos Echo is IMO in top 3 space echo sims out there. I use it way more than I should.

On Agoura - still really enjoying the amps. The only casualty so far - not getting along with the Plexi for the crunchier tones I like but I think it’s less of a modeling issue and more that i prefer the brighter, stiffer 70s 1959 spec. The L6 Plexi feels like the softer, more Bassman-like filtering on the late 60s circuit which I’m not as into. This one falls apart too much for me. The SuperBass is amazing though.

I’d love to see L6 implement an “era” parameter on some of these circuits so you could switch between 60/70s/80s versions. :rofl
From what I remember them saying in the past, the reference plexi is a 68 (assuming they used the same reference amp) which makes sense based on what you're describing. I'm more of a classic rock player, so I actually prefer the earlier ones like this. One thing that's missing is that there is no lead spec 50 watter. Maybe an early metal panel 50 watt is something they could consider adding at some point. That would give another option for people who like the more aggressive plexis.

Your phone doesn't need that as it'd just be a local network.
Okay, show's you what I know, lol. I'm still going to hope Line 6 lets me edit over USB before it comes to that. I still have my Pod Express and if I get sporty I can always try an AM4. Unlikely I'll lug my Stadium along, was really thinking more along the lines of something in the Stadium family ala the OG stomp if they do something like that during the coming years.

Spent a lot of time with it today. Got my Axe III and Kemper in the loops. The Stadium more than holds its' own, in terms of amp tones. As others have (rightly) said, the Kemper effects are world-class. The Stadium reverbs are good, but the KPA and Axe III do better ones IMO. I have been trying to audition IRs with the Stadium, but the app loses connection every two minutes. It is a major PITA. I still can't believe that this wasn't sorted before launch. I have no reliable, consistent connection using WiFi and tbh it is really pissing me off. It wouldn't have stopped me buying it, had I know about this issue beforehand, but it is very disappointing. I have some IRs that I love, and my only current solution is running the Axe FX in the loop and loading then IRs into that unit. But that involves converting them to .syx files. Sod that. Please, PLEASE sort this out Line 6. I only want to be able to audition IRs. I could upload them onto a memory stick and plug that into the Stadium, but it currently doesn't have that capability.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm relieved to hear you say this. I thought I was the only one out in the wild having that issue.

A $30-$50 fix for me was to get a wifi extender and put it in my music space about 2 feet from the stadium (even though all my other devices have no issue with wifi in the same room/location. I have only my music PC and the Stadium connected to the extender. That's not a 100% fix. I'm still getting 1.3 disconnects of app/unit per hour of connect time. Disconnection doesn't affect the sound output or anything, nor unsaved edits, but it's frustrating having the issue with what you thought was going to be a top-shelf experience from an outfit I've experienced nothing but best-in-class device reliability from.

Same...not digging the Plexi. HX one is better to me.

I have an extender somewhere, I will try this. Thank you for the tip. We shouldn't have to be using extra stuff though, and the dropouts are still very annoying. I was really surprised to learn that the editor doesn't work via USB. I really, really hope someone from L6 chips in and assures us that this is being worked on. I have a ton of IRs and no way of loading them on at present.

- The poly shifter doesn’t seem as good as either the AFX3 or the Digitech Drop. Lots of strange artifacts regardless of setting (and noticeable lag if set to X stable)

That's surprising to hear - i reckon the poly shift in the HXS is the same as the original Helix? I had a Drop for a short while back in the day, and Helix definitely tracked better.

I love both models, but prefer the feel of the Agoura model. I made a dual amp patch with both iterations and it sounded glorious.

BTW, do we still have preset templates? I couldn't find one.

I posted the instructions for @JiveTurkey, but it's hiding in plain sight:

  1. Tap Menu

    The main menu button

in the upper left corner of the touchscreen and then tap New Preset
The main menu's New Preset button

.The Select Template window appears (below left).

  2. Tap the desired template from which you want to start your new preset. If you’re not sure, tap “Empty Preset.”
  3. Tap New Preset

    The New Preset button

.A new preset is created based on the template you chose (below right).

I need to double check my settings on my poly capo. It has a little more warble than I'd like. FAS on the FM3 is just a bit more stable on the tracking without feeling sluggish?

You can actually get a lot of mileage out of the HX delays and reverbs, but ideally you'd use a parallel path for them so you could, say, deliberately EQ them and apply other FX without the dry signal being affected.
With the limitation of the OG Helix of one split per path only lifted, that alone could potentially improve your FX life (whereas on the OG HX I always found myself having to use the split path for something else). But it's still not exactly instant gratification.
Are you guys doing movie soundtracks or sound design? Seriously I've never had any issues with the dynamic reverbs and the L6 delays have always been great (transistor tape, vintage digital and crisscross are my faves). But I just play bar gigs so what do I know.

Stadium landed and updated. I did two quick tests:

2203 with the same York IRs as I use in the FM3/9 - Every bit as good as the Fractal model. No qualms about using this.

AC30 - Holy mother of God is this amazing! I loaded up the AC30 with default cab/mic and dropped the top boost drive to 3.5. I instantly got the base AC30 tone I was looking for. Was fully prepared to spend time on this because I tweaked for over an hour on the FM9 and didn't get anywhere near this good of a tone, and I tweaked the original HX model for hours and never got here. I didn't even load the IRs I used in the FM9 yet, and I might not. It's that good right out of the gate.

Totally sold on the Stadium. For my particular tones, it is head and shoulders different and above the original Helix and unbelievably easy to get what I'm looking for compared to Fractal. The only weak link are the delays and reverbs, but they're usable, just not Fractal level good.

Was this the same Agoura AC30CC you were dreading before launch? Or was it the HX one?
