Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

One of the setlists in OG Helix had a couple banks of templates for 4cm, 7cm, etc. there might be something in there already.
I looked in the factory presets but wasn't seeing anything. There is a lot of things I have missed on a lot of fronts so playing a bit of HX catchup. The channel switching is going to be interesting. I hope :bag

@JiveTurkey There's not a 4-cable method preset, BUT there is a template you can select. From the manual:

  1. Tap Menu

    The main menu button

in the upper left corner of the touchscreen and then tap New Preset
The main menu's New Preset button

.The Select Template window appears (below left).

  2. Tap the desired template from which you want to start your new preset. If you’re not sure, tap “Empty Preset.”
  3. Tap New Preset

    The New Preset button

.A new preset is created based on the template you chose (below right).

You just need to select the "4-Cable Method" template.

@Orvillain Did you try it with the Mk V? I am as we speak and it sounds verrrrrrrrrry nice in 4CM. I am getting a ibt of noise but I am sure I don't have something optimized> I haven't set up channel switching yet. Yet.
Not tried any 4cm stuff yet. Not with the Mark V, gotta fix the power switch first!

Thank you sir! Only twitch on this is you still have an instrument vs. line level discrepancy in what you are sending the input vs. what is coming back to the Stadium return. I am going to do some digging and maybe rethinking some of the cabling. It might make sense for OCD sake for me to set the Output 1 to instrument and use it to send to the amp input then use the loop like you are showing with the existing cables I am using.

Dumb question time - is there any way to just scroll through IR's in the current folder, one-by-one ?? I tried turning the bottom right encoder, and it just scrolled to the Kinky Boost and made a very kinky sound.

Just connected a TRS cable to the Mk V and it is super noisy for channel switching. Not sure what the issue is or if there is a caveat/fix/known method for making this work without the additional noise.

Y'know what, listening back to those clips, I don't hate the reverbs. I just want more of them, that are more my flavour. But they're definitely useable.

Here's a clean ambient-ish thing, using US Super Vib, Adriatic Delay in stereo, and Dynamic Hall in stereo:

I'm going to be honest, and kinda forthright.... I don't really like the Helix reverbs. Like, at all. There isn't a single one in there that gives me the horn. I'm definitely going to need to add verbs in the loops.

Adriatic Delay is as beautiful as ever.
Sounds fucking nuts to me dude. Nice.

Dang. Was afraid of that. Looks like my Orchid isolator boxes aint going anywhere brah!!

The old Helix had noise issues with grounding when using it to switch channels on an amp. Hope that’s not still the case with the new unit.
I've got TRS cable on C/D control on the HX end and then using a splitter to control channel switching and solo boost engage on the Mark end (ring and tip). I have it set to start up on channel 2 then the switch will switch from 2 to 3. How much of a kludge is an isolator box?

It’s here, updated and on the pair of little laptop stand things I got….. the legs of those are tucked under the handle of 5he speaker cabinet and it seems solid.

Things I’m loving so far - almost everything tbh. Coming from a 13 year old platform, this feels like a significant upgrade in all directions…. I’ve watched lots of videos and I had a scan through the manual the other day but since its arrival I’ve just turned it on and used it…. I haven’t really struggled at all which either means I’ve absorbed a lot of info over the last few months or that it’s really intuitive - probably a bit of both. There’s stuff that I don’t know how to do yet but I’m going to spend a bit more time just playing in semi ignorance then look up anything I fail to find.

Favourite amp so far is the bassman but I need a lot more time with it before I’ll know for sure.

Focus view is great - although I’ve got a couple of valve amps, I lack experience with getting the best out of (say) an AC30 as I’ve never had one. That was one of the appealing things (to me) with my Kemper - someone who did know the amp in question captured ideal tones and I could play with minimal tweaking. But this (for me) is much better than scrolling through twenty profiles to get what’s on my mind. It’s quicker, more intuitive and it’s what’s on *my* mind, not the mind of the profile maker. It’s a nice learning tool and fun to use.

Only thing I’m not a fan of with focus - why does the circle reset to centre when you come back to a previously adjusted block? If I’m creating a preset and (for example) I drag the amp’s focus slider about an inch to the right and half inch up. It adjusts multiple parameters and I’m happy. I put on a reverb and adjust it using focus view. I now decide my amp needs a tiny tweak due to my reverb use changing the overall sound. Although all the amp parameters stay put in their adjusted states, the focus circle has gone back to the middle….. sure, I can drag it back close to where it was but ‘why does it do that’? I’m not seeing the logic of that decision.

I’d appreciate other people’s thoughts on this last point - if I’m being silly, tell me. My brain right now thinks it would be better if it stayed put.
That cab is sick as fucccckkk. BTW, did you list any stuff with Sell Us Your Guitar at any point???

I have a couple of these I keep around all the time and they are great to help with ground loops. It’ll help IF that’s what you’re dealing with.
