Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

The "Other" Worship Music :satan :rollsafe

One thing I noticed yesterday. If I was a stoner/doom guy; the HX stuff would be a GREAT option. I'd love to hear it through a pair of 4x12s. Speaking of :satan
I feel like it’s going to be hard to gauge Agoura performance for the tones I like without getting some Mesa love in there.

If you're using an IR instead of the HX cabs, what curve gets selected?
The SIC for the default cab that would normally load with that amp.

What I am noticing on re-listening to the Signal Theory demos is that the Fenders sound and feel right to me - that was my one complaint with Helix - that the Fender amps lacked some heft, weight and 'clang'. I clearly get a sense of that with the new Agoura amp models.

Some of the Tweed amps also seem to have more harmonic content...more 3D. Definitely like it.

Lastly, the Marshalls have a snarl and a different attack now which wasn't fully developed in the Helix (although, I did do a lot of comparison between Helix Plexi and the UA Lion, and I couldn't believe how close they were. So not knocking the Helix Plexi here - it is very good as it stands today for anyone playing one).

Everything else, I thought sounded great (minus the Bogner XTC which I thought something wasn't quite there - Agoura sounds/'feels' much better)
A few months ago I was messing with some NAM marshall plexi captures that sounded really good to me so I A/B'd them with the Plexi BRT in Helix Native. I was shocked how close I could get. Now the Plexi jumped is one of my favorite in the Helix - right up there with the BE100 model. There was talk for a while now that Line 6 had been updating the old models on the sly and I think thats true because I never liked the OG plexi from 2015, and I wasnt alone.

All that said the good demos of the Stadium Deluxe, Plexi and Super Bass definitely sound like a noticeable upgrade to me.

Official discussion thread for the Line6 HX Stadium product line

The previous thread is so full of nonsense that it's best to start a new one. This should be for owners of the unit, or prospective owners. Talk about how to make the most of it etc.

THIS IS NOT THE THREAD FOR DISCUSSING SHIPPING, RELEASE OF THE NON-XL MODEL ETC.
Oh, man. The temptation to post a manifesto on the perils of Artificial Intelligence... or possibly a 3-part review of Russian Dolls. :rofl

What do you guys think of this?

Firmly in the "personal preference" territory rather than "this is better, this is more authentic". But I've always felt the Helix amp models were pretty good as is, so this is likely what we will see from all major brands going forward. Iterative performance and the real game changers are in how easy the unit is to operate and get to do the things you need it to do.

I felt that Digital Igloo + Yvette Young video was really good at highlighting that aspect, where she got what she was looking for out of the unit with ease.

I find that there's a threshold where I just stop caring about things like accuracy. If it's fun to play and sounds good to my ear, it's good.

It is fun to play. And I had to work to require milk boiling techniques. They seem to have gotten the amps I go for back "together" where they aren't grainy/spitty/crackly. Disembodied distortion was almost non-existent in yesterday's marathon and for me; that's a miracle compared to my past experiences.

I look forward to the possibility of @James Freeman and the oscilloscope and @laxu and his interface impression. I still think poo switches are the best modern interfacing upgrade. I have a few playing sessions on the books this week and will be focusing on getting some FX where I want them.

@metropolis_4 the chorii so far are plentiful but pretty underwhelming or overpowering in ways I don't like at all. With FAS; you load a block and they just work. The 4 voice chorus is pretty darn good I will say.
