Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

They are. Not sure what was blocking it on the first system's install? Disabled the firewall, added the Helix manually via it's IP to no avail. The system I am using now detected it right off the bat.

If you're going out to a power amp, you don't want any SIC at all in the amp simulation, right? In that situation, the power amp is connected to a cabinet and is feeling, and reacting to, the impedance from that cabinet. In other words, as I understand it, no simulation of the impedance in the amp simulator is required or desired when using a real power amp and cabinet.

I’d prefer to be able to when using most solid state power amps.

Also, if there is no way to bypass the SIC, then it’s nice to be able to experiment with different options at least.

Some more rando thoughts.

FX are still a mixed bag but getting better. 4 voice chorus and dual pitch are good for up front and post amp for the grease. Simple Delay and Heliosphere are great delays. Reverbs are fulfilling that usual prophecy. Nothing tripping my trigger there and will probably ignore that block. Haven't gotten to phase or flange yet.

Stadium as an audio interface is quite nice so far as well.

Touchscreen is great. Focus view is not as exciting as I thought it would be. Footswitch config is not as easy as I expected it to be, whether in the editor or on the device. I need to work on that a bit more. Ready for the rest of this amp pile to get Agourafied :bag

What are you looking for in terms of reverbs? Maybe I can help you dial those in

How much of Agoura have you dug into?

I...don't know tbh? Brit 2203, Slo, EVHs, the Mandarins (which I am not sure if those are). Those are all the amps I focused on.

Mandarins are not, but the Mandarin Rocker is the Rockerverb III, one of the more recent HX models. It is AWESOME.

I know you're going to break out in hives with using a Catalyst amp model, but give the Voltage a chance. Just crank the drive and the boost about 80 percent of the way.

I got slaughtered at TOP for even asking questions about how they’d implemented it. Every other company just gives a straight answer, as it should be.

Yeah, that was a really unfortunate way to handle it. And that evasiveness over many straight questions pretty much killed any interest in the product, as Line 6 and Fractal have a long history of transparency and honesty with their customers (as much as they can without sharing things they understandably shouldn't).

Combine that with the obvious shills and leveraging the moderators against any naysayers, and the result is a complete lack of interest in buying from them.

How does this work when using a SS power amp with cab (my 90% use-case)? What/how should the SIC be applied?

If you’re running into something like a powerstage you’d set the SIC on to simulate the tube power section interacting with the cab. I suppose you’d have to choose the cab that was most like your physical cab and then bypass it so the SIC applies but the speaker modeling doesn’t.

Well, Fractal / Cliff’s notes on it for this use case with the Fractal units are:
If you are using a conventional guitar cab and solid-state power amp ideally you would want to know the impedance curve of the cabinet. This requires special test equipment although I'm working on a idea to use the outputs of the Axe-Fx directly along with a special cable to allow field measurements by users. At this time the impedance curve matching is a Matlab program though and requires some hand-tuning.
Ideally. Obviously that's not practical. So choose an impedance curve that most closely matches the speaker you used.
