Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

JC's done a comparison video here of old and new modelling:

The Agoura EVH model definitely sounds like there's more poweramp distortion, it's much more midrangy and bloated/thick. It's the ugly sounding distortion Im hearing in other clips. IMO the older model sounds nicer.

On the lower gain models, the onset of gain sounds a lot more dynamic and I think it sounds very pleasing. I think it sounds noticeably better (for instance in his opening clips, or on the AC30). US Luxe absolutely sounds more dynamic, by comparison the old model sounds like it has a pedal in front that won't quite allow things to clean up as much. AC30 I was sort of split on, overall I think Agoura sounds better but the old model had a few tones I

I've been messing around with the SLO. The Stadium's version is so much better than OG Helix, much fuller bass and it just sounds great.

The volumes on the factory presets are all over the place. Some loud and some quiet. Some of the presets are clipping pretty bad too.
From the clips I have heard at least for me The SLO and boosted 800 seem to be the best of the bunch for the hard rock Lynch / Whitesnake stuff i dig for the more modern heavy 5153 never really cared for the real Revv amps always found them not to my taste

I was going through the manual to get ready for tomorrow. The manual talks about a "Stadium App" that I can;t find at the link given in the manual. Is it there and I'm being dense, or is it something that will come along later. Sorry if this has been discussed somewhere, the volume of Stadium stuff is getting hard for me to keep up with.

The second part of that question - whether the SIC is bypassed with the cab is an important detail. I think it will be fairly obvious to determine once we have units in hand though.

Yeah, exactly. Something said at the start of the Signal Theory Q&A MAYBE referred to that (they noted the amp still sounded different when the cab was bypassed vs removed), but they didn't explain further. (maybe @brianwahl can answer?)

Speaking of that Signal Theory thoughts / Q&A video, it's good to hear them say that the Agoura amps take drive pedals well. I think that can be a major weak spot for the Helix, at least the Fender style amps, and I've always suspected it had to do with their high end, which again seems to be an area that has been majorly improved.

It was also interesting to hear them say that they don't like how the Fractal amps take pedals though. I can't say I've ever heard that one!

I missed this. I tried both ways to no avail. I'm going to try again after supper.

Ladies....can we talk about accessorizing - What's everyone getting? Touch-screen protector? What else?

I can’t wait to check out the black panel Bassman. I forgot that was in there under the bass amps. Don’t sleep on that one.

@metropolis_4 has been pretty vocal about this and I've seen a few others

Interesting! I'll have to look into that. I've seen people criticize how the built-in drive pedal models sound in general (especially before the recent drive block update), but not how the Fractal amps take pedals in general (i.e. including external ones).
