Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

Yeah now that I've tried them for my self, I agree - the reverbs in the FM3/FM9/Axe-Fx III are just on another level at this time. I find myself wanting more control over the delays as well.
Try the crisscross delay. Lots of control in that one and it sounds great. I can get 90% of the way to the Halo Timmons setting with that delay.

I mean that's what I do .. I just never understood it. Technically at 100 it should be totally neutral. It is not. Not even close. And it isn't like tube distortion, it's like the clipping from a cheap Peavy solid state even with the actual volumes set super low. So every single preset I had to juggle. Anyhow, just one of those things that never made sense to me.
If it’s in every preset are you clipping the output? In the og helix, you could see if the output turns red.

So when I load the new Tweedman into a blank preset I still have to drop the master to 7-8ish and bring up the Level to 9 or 10 to make it sound basic tweedish. Otherwise there is this horrible clipping in the standard preset the comes up when you load that amp/cab with its default settings. Since I don't see this complaint ever it makes me wonder what i'm doing wrong. But I just go straight into the helix, and very short cable run to the interface.

I do tend to agree. The masters are faaaaaaarrrr too hot as defaults in most amps.

You can setup a block to how you like it, then hold on the block icon and you'll see a 'Set As Defaults' type option - the name might be slightly different, can't quite remember.

Also check the input and make sure you're not clipping there. My Duncan Distortions can clip the input if I really strum like a mad bastard.

I primarily use Fender stuff. Having the Master at 100 sounds like shit.

It's authentic, though (whether it's modeled accurately is another issue). Most Fender amp's master volumes are all the way up all the time (or rather: Most of them don't have a master volume and all the way up represents the status of the power amp running at full level).

A tweed Bassman doesn’t have a master volume. If you’re turning that down you’re likely running the drive too hot or at least hotter than you’re used to hearing it. Tweed amps get pretty unruly when cranked.

Do me a favor, just swap the output levels of the Volume and Master of the stock amp/cab block (Max Vol, 5 Master and vice versa). Tell me which one you think sounds correct. For me there is no comparison. Reducing Master and increasing volume sound "correct". Max Master sounds like shit.

I ended up getting mine last night. The master on 10 sounds normal to me. Have you tried just running the bright channel and turning the normal channel down a bit? It affects the sound even when not jumpered. It's a bit high at the default settings. Maybe it's adding too much mud to the sound.

I just temporarily laid out a couple of things on my Pedaltrain XD24, see if this could be reality:

Now... problems....

1. The ferrite on the power cable is very chunky, and prevents me from putting the VP4 in that top left corner.
2. The Stadium is taller than the wah pedal, which I know from experience definitely messes with me and being able to quickly jump on and activate the wah.
3. I don't actually like everything being up that high. You've got the board itself, then you've got the Stadium height too. Resting my heel on the ground and tapping the tempo with the tip of my shoe is quite uncomfortable. I think I actually prefer just having the Stadium directly on the ground, or perhaps on a flat board that is not as tall.

Anyway this is what I ended up with:

Not gonna lie, I definitely prefer the spaciousness of the board I've been running with for the last 6 months or so. Might not go with this layout after all.
The ferrite on my Stadium IEC cord slides up and down the cable. Hmmmm
