Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

Anyone know where to find some sweet mid to high gain Friedman captures

The Studio Rats just released a paid pack of captures with several BE100 and Friedman Smallbox Proxy clones. That's all I know of.

Lots of other people are keeping their powder dry for a definitive V1.x/"Ok, THIS is it for awhile" version so they don't have redo them - which makes sense because each one takes 7-9 minutes to do, and you can't use your Stadium during the process.

There’s no world where I’m toting around the XL plus pedals. Hell no.
That's actually what motivated me to get rid of my tube amps and pedals. Don't know if you have ever lifted a VHT 4x12 slant top (the old ones with VHT P90 speakers in them). Between that and the head, and pedalboard, and cable bag, and stage setup, and teardown ..... I just got sick of it (was gigging 2x a week when I changed). Going "all-in-one" was something I had wanted to do, but prior to Fractal and Kemper, really felt that the POD stuff just really missed the mark by more than I could stand to give up.

I think my Kemper in a case with my foot controller and bag all weigh in at <20lbs. Can do load in with 2 guitars in 1 trip :). LOVE the new world we live in :).
100%. Kemper changed the game and eventually everyone caught up and (in the case of Proxy) took first place on the podium - I think profiling 2.0 is better than QC and Tonex but Proxy just nips it to the post in terms of feel.
In a year I will seriously be looking at a Stadium XL. I'm giving it a little time to mature before I give up my solid Kemper Rack rig.
I think it sounds just as accurate, and it is way more tweakable.
... and I think the tweakable part is what makes it sound better. Stadium has taken this idea even further with their GUI making it very easy to go from what you are thinking in your head, to a real output on a live stage.

Fabian of Amalgam fame also has this on offer.

No recordings of the clones :(

For those talking about capturing a fuzz and having the fuzz thinking it’s seeing a pickup instead of a buffered capture device this is what’s needed. These are made for using fuzz with wireless systems or buffered loop switchers. There are multiple ‘un-buffer’ products, this is just one I know of.

IK's reamp box has a jumper inside to set the impedance around 15k I believe.

Edit: Google says 2.4k but I measured it and pretty sure it was higher.

That’s interesting. I have their AxeIO solo or whatever the hell it is. I’ll have to investigate.

What are all of you using for your capture device? I was trying with a CaptorX today and the Engl SE/FE and it wasn't even close to my ears. I did bypass all the IR stuff in the remote app so it wasn't that.

Suhr Reactive Load (non-IR). Sometimes I use it as a DI and still run through to a cab to get more realistic cab interaction.

Dang, not being able to edit the clone details in the editor on the computer sucks, you are in a hurry to clone and or test something but you really need to stop and fill out all the meta data before you even decide if you are going to keep it.
I’m sure they are working on something, but yeah…it’s a bear to fill out details and settings.

Yeah I noticed this on day one. Pretty sure DI said they are working on it.

Right now I just call the clone name some keyword but I do update the metadata since it stays from last time it’s a quick change if you’re just nudging settings on the amp/pedal

When they’re all done I’ll rename the clones in the desktop editor. But yes being at the mercy of that one screen one time right now for metadata is not great

We also need folders for clones like IRs cause having them all in a single list is chaos

Ok that makes sense - the Fulltone 69 uses a similar control called “input” that allows basically preset cleanup. I have a cap with that at full and rolled back because I did actually find a cool tone that way, but definitely not a straight up FF sound.

I redid my fuzz face and (as you’d expect due to me making the mistake with the input trim on a pedal I built 🙄) the results are quite different.

If I set volume on 10 and fuzz on 10, the original (up front of the stadium) rolls off very quickly on the guitar knob - go down to a 9 on the guitar and it’s already changing things. On the clone, I need to go down to 7 or so on the guitar before the change happens.

Overall I’m finding that if I leave the guitar volume at 10 it’s not 100% if I a/b the real thing with the clone but it’s very close - close enough to make me want to download and enjoy other fuzz clones out there right now. I can also get some really nice tones out of the clone if I roll off the guitar with the clone….. they’re just not the same tones I get from the real thing. So, in regards to the clone it’s made here? It’s really nice if you don’t have the ability to a/b it because it still has interesting tones as you roll off. IMO anyway :) Again, I tried adjusting the virtual impedance input to work with the clone if I made - it makes a big difference but (in the particular case with a low z input fuzz clone) it did not make it more like the real thing.

With the talk of load boxes to simulate pickups…..

As the Stadium physically has a variable load within it on the guitar input, is there (software wise) anything L6 could do with the internal routing during the capture process to use that physical value if you’re capturing a vintage fuzz? I’m probably missing something or overthinking and, of course, Proxy is still brand new so it’s possible it will get low z fuzz even closer as it evolves. Although it’s not bang on, it’s already an impressive start imo.
