Line 6 Helix Stadium Pre-Launch Discussion

Morphine would be a kickass name for a modeler

better than stadium, he said with love
Editing most modellers on the front panel is a pain in the arse, so maybe Morphine is a good name. Editing the Helix is pain-free, I imagine it will be even quicker with the Stadium.

I've said so before, from all that is known by now, on unit editing the Stadiums will likely be the most pleasant experience there ever was. I'm pretty sure it'll beat using any editor, too, simply because the combination of a touchscreen, plenty of encoders and the capacitive switches is almost everything one could possibly ask for.

I think it'd be great if they could find a way to also mirror the screen to an iPad which I could then place on a music stand. That way, I won't have to bend down to twist knobs but also have access to foot switches.

PATENT PENDING DIBS!!

I have high hopes for the wireless editing (which I'm assuming will be dashed upon product launch), but I'm envisioning the ability to essentially mirror the Stadium's touch screen on my iPad.

Beat you to it by several weeks!

I'm pretty sure that this time there will be a mobile editor.

I would expect the mobile app to be almost that. Not a direct screen cast, but a mirror UI adapted to any screen size that is linked to the device by wifi or Bluetooth.

As a hobbyist who spends most of my time playing at my desk, takes the modeler to band practice once a week, and gigs every few months, this would be a killer feature for me. Right now I keep my Quad Cortex on my desk for easy editing and use a Morningstar MC6 Pro for the stomp switches. It would be great to not have to have the much larger Stadium on my desk.

Focus view changes depending on the type of item; think of it like <ahem> focusing in on that particular item.
  • For amps and most effects, you see Focus zones for morphing between five distinct model defaults
  • For cabs, you can move the mic in 3D space
  • For most EQs, you can move band nodes around
  • Loopers have Focus view 3D images but no zones because we have future plans for them
  • Future items will have different Focus views
  • There's no Focus view for Inputs, Outputs, Splits, or Merges
Focus zones are kinda pointless for Gain blocks, Volume Pedals, and Wahs but we included them anyway for consistency's sake.
I think Focus zones for something like a Wah could be useful . you could have different frees for example for the Dunlop cry baby
Dunlop posts all the freq sweeps so you could technically have a Slash , Buddy Guy , Cantrell, ZaKK Wylde in the focus zones

I had the same thought when I watched the video earlier today. The images and icons look like they were done by someone who actually gives a shit. I loved that the MXR-117 looked just like the original.

Little details add up and the more I see, the more excited I’m getting for the XL to get here.
I didn’t think much about graphics, but damn these look good. There’s so much that can be done by a competent UX team.
Fractal level sound with this sort of interface - ah, one can dream.

If the whole org is on mission to do the work, yes. This is a big reason why I’m now a loyal customer looking forward to Stadium. Seen too many UX/UI teams sit and push pixels and keep shipping the same shitty solutions over and over, plus losing talent when people have had enough.

With sound priorities (and a shit ton of hard work) all the different competences in product development gets to shine. That’s the vibes I’m getting from L6 atm.
