Go back through the thread. This was covered days ago. I’m through discussing it.
For me it was price. Used KPP's can be had for $500.
I bought a QC about a month ago, then the KPP two weeks ago. I plan on keeping both. The models in the QC are based on captures. The same TINA profiles they use to make their plugins are used to make the QC models & I love them. I love their plugins.
I hope one day they'll give us the tools to make similar models. Headrush is doing something similar with their Superclones, although very crude in comparison. But I like that kind of forward thinking.
Kemper, as is, is also working in that direction with it's liquid profiles & the other amp controls the give you. I agree it has its limits, but if you work within those limits it can be pretty satisfying.
People are going to do what people are going to do with the tools they are given. I have no doubt in my mind some 12 year old kid is going to do something with these tools that we'll be akin to Dave Davies' broken speaker, Clapton's Bluesbreaker or Van Halen's brown sound... because he doesn't know any better.

Yeah, that makes sense! If you need its particular set of features in hardware, the used prices are pretty nice right now, for sure. I think, for me, I'd still go with an NC over a KPP (especially since the NC is confirmed to be getting support for the new captures) even though it has its own downsides, but I can see why some people would go for the KPP in this price range.

The NC is a killer device that got a ton of needed functionality with the last update. For the money, it’s nearly a no-brainer for amp guys to capture their stuff and have as a backup rig.

Totally. I'm not 100% behind the whole app thing, but it at least seems to be implemented pretty well, and in general the NC team seems to really be on top of wanting to make the device the best that it can be within its hardware limitations.
I've actually thought about if I'd ever want to use captures again along with my FM9, and while the answer is probably no, I think I'd go with an NC instead of a Tonex again if I did.

Has anyone here been on the Kemper forum the last few days? I cannot believe how much benefit of doubt some of the players are giving Kemper in regards to the 2.0 delays.
Any time someone comments about not liking or being upset about the delays, they get jumped on with "just wait, it'll be amazing!".

Between all the deleted posts and banned members in that thread, the mods have culled out everything except sycophantic replies.

You're not wrong that fandoms can be that way, but definitely not all of them, and there are degrees. Kemper seems to have hit an extreme.
On the IK forums, it's clearly the company staff who do all of the prevention of any discussion of how the products might be lacking, stepping in and asserting that everything is a matter of opening a ticket (which is hilarious), and/or shutting down the thread. I think dissent would otherwise be tolerated to some degree.

Probably? But IME dissent is almost never tolerated well on any company-owned forum. Kemper and IK are particularly heavy handed though, yes.

Sure, nobody's going to let someone come into the Product X Forum and say "Product X sucks. You should all be using Product Y." But I've seen something like "Hey, this particular feature is confusing/doesn't totally work right" be received with an actual discussion that informed the manufacturer of what a fix looks like from the user's perspective. Sure, it had to stay constructive, but it's part of the value of having a forum at all. Kemper and IK simply don't want to know.
On the TMP Discord, Fender reps mostly just respond to the gushing praise for every little thing or - wait for it - tell poeple to open support tickets. Or say "all things in time" to every single feature request, which is functionally identical to saying nothing at all, but that's their schtick, and they're sticking to it.
So yes, 'limiting' conversation is common on company forums, but it definitely has degrees.

Pulled the plug on the Kemper and sold the Player on Reverb. Took a bit of a hit but not too bad.
End of the day I didn’t really like the tones or the usability, the company didn’t deliver on promises, and their forum is extremely off putting.
I really hoped to be able to shoot my own profiles and build up tones that way but the player can’t do it without the updates. And editing on the player is extremely limited. You can’t even see which note you’re playing on the tuner.
Money better put towards something else.

really liked the concept of Player and enjoyed it but yeah the lack of screen was tiresome and off-putting.
didn't stay long.
But I have used Kemper for a long time and very used to its workflow, hence the rack stays.

I'm intrigued by a used Stage because it's all in one and has wi-fi. But really I think I'm fully over the Kemper unless they have a proper new hardware. The tones just weren't doing it for me outside of cleans. I have all the Michael Britt, tons of Matt Fig, all the Tone Junkie stuff, and who knows how many others. I just kept going back to everything else I've got and found the high end sounded way better.

Am I correct that you never made your own profiles? Just saying, because that's often the difference maker. Not always, but often.
There are very few Kemper profiles I like. Like, few few. But the ones I made are much more to my taste. Obvious reasons, of course -- having the chance to dial in stuff, etc.
But certainly you may have identified a trend about how Kemper sounds and feels, which would carry over in your profiles.

Not with my current amps. I did shoot some of my IRX and even the Plini plugin back when I had a toaster. I like those a lot still. But the functionality never came to the Player as promised. That’s a big reason I held onto it as long as I did. But no word on when it would get released or what the delays were etc.
Like I said I’d be a bit tempted if I found a used stage for $600 or something but no way I’d buy a mk2.
