So much hate for a product that a f*ck-tons of bands and studios at all levels have been happily using for ~14 years to tour and record with.
What the fuck are you talking about? The product that we are all hating on was just announced today. There are not a fuck ton of bands and studios at all levels happily using it today, much less for the last 14 years.

I loved my 2012 Mac mini when I got it in 2012. If someone tried to sell it to me today for ballpark same price I paid for it in 2012...I'd hate on them.

(1) That's actually my point ... no one yet knows if it can do what is being advertised. But as you put it, w.t.f do I know.

(2) Gonna have to agree to disagree on this one.

This isn't a point that we have opinions on here. A product was announced today so factually, there can't be a ton of people using it. Nobody has used it yet. People aren't hating on Kemper Mk1. They are hating on how limited in scope Kemper Mk. II is.

Yep. This I totally agree with. When I saw the first leaked pics I was stunned in the non-change to the "boxes" used.

I'm sure this was a deliberate cost / manufacturing / production decision to keep costs down / profits up .... disappointing, but totally normal for any business in a tough relatively niche market ... hence I think the reason for the limited scope for the MK2

To me, the big ticket [unknown] item with the MK2 is the "new" Profiling process. Their claim in the publicity is that " More than 100,000 individual frequency points meticulously analyzed for the most precise amp recreation ever achieved "

They aint claiming a better Kemper - they are claiming "the best amp copying" of all ..... period.

So if ... and I stress a big if, they pull this off, I can easily live with all the other shortcomings that do, and will continue to exist.

Where is anyone seeing that the Player can profile? It’s not in the new manual at all.
The blerb mentions that it gets "new profiling" but I suspect that simply means that is plays the new profile format. Funny thing is the label on it says "profiler" so perhaps it will inherit that feature afterall.

Me happy its future proof!
Only concern..If they indeed updated the profiling, my mk1 toaster possibly will not have that ability, which makes getting my own captures into the kpp challenging :)

Its not for everyone, but I get it. As Many physical knobs as possible for immediate acces at a gig, screen big enough to handle emergencies, when you need to do more elaborate stuff, you use the editor on mobile device or pc. Probabably cost saving also.

Between Kemper and QC, very different, both work perfectly fine for me. QC is always a click before editing, kemper often none, sometimes 1, sometimes more. Needs an external screen when you want to go through lists efficiently.
So far it seems the only obvious change (I see anyways) is that the player now has the extra fixed pre and post fx slots.
Now that said they are somewhat utilitarian.

Feels mostly like a regular incremental update.
But hey gifthorse

People have called Kemper and asked them directly.

The answer was Player is getting the new Profiling capability.

EDIT: As I really look at things, I'm not sure anymore. I think someone at Kemper needs to confirm publicly that the Player will get the ability to actually Profile. I've re-read several of their marketing materials and they're not even consistent on the total number of effect blocks - sometimes it's 20, sometimes it's 18. Yeah, it's 18 if you count the amp and cab blocks, and 20 if you count the input and output blocks - but I don't consider those effect blocks. So my bullshit meter has been activated.
It’s 10 new fixed blocks, 8 existing and the amp/cab ones. For a total of 20

The player is interesting
And first it was pay walled level 1 and Level 2
Then they gave away half of level 1 for FREE

Now Level 3 basically added
Looper
8x8 interface
8 efx blocks
Dual path

According to the release they are now automatically given everyone 16 fx slots and the 8x8 interface for FREE

So technically if you don’t care about looper you are getting a lot of extras
The usb is 8 channel meaning 4x4. And the player had that from day 1. Toaster is 2x2.

Just as stage and toaster have input impedance in their fuzz, toaster doesn’t.

So if one orders a new Stage now it will be MkII? I wonder because they don't name them Mk II or even put it in the features. And I wonder what happens/ed to the remaining stock of Mk I models. Would be pretty crap if someone bought a new Toaster/Stage/Rack let's say on Thomann now and realise it was still a Mk I.

Yeah, these are really somewhat underwhelming. Sure, you might be able to use some of them instead of the older FX, so you could then load up something else there, but in general, they're in fact kinda utilitarian. Defenitely not justifying a Mk 2 version jump IMO.
Which leaves us with the features reserved for the new hardware, most notably the new profiling algorithm and the cab section.
I think that those better had to be really great (as in "killing it") for the KPA to become a 2025 product.

---

And fwiw, as said before (and maybe this could be updated later on): Not being able to load multiple captures and stil not being able to have two parallel signal paths is *very* underwhelming. I mean, even the HX Stomp can process two signals separately (sure, there's not much juice for FX, but running two amps and cabs is easily possible) and can become an incredibly useful thing in some scenarios, even if you're not using both paths simultaneously.
Pretty much all flagship modelers can do this these days.

My 2012 Mac mini also looks close to the same as my current one ;), and my current one offered extra speed from the start, and new functionality only after installing additional software. So in my mind it’s not all that different…
From a functional perspective you buy something very different out of the box today, then you did in 2011.

What does make me wonder: no USB3, seemingly no wifi/Bluetooth on the head/toaster either.
Although today there may not be immediate need for it, IF you plan for another 15 year lifetime of hardware, wouldn’t you include that?
Together with the “mk2” label instead of Kemper II..makes me suspect they have something else in the oven also. Probably on the same innerworkings so mk2 stays relevant, but in a different box.
