Not sure I agree really, I don't feel super strongly either way.

USB-C is definitely a better connector, and it's the direction the world is going. USB-A and B are legacy connectors that are more prone to breaking.

From what I see

Level 2 adds more effect types
Level 3 adds more effect blocks and a looper
Mk2 adds a bunch of fixed effects to the chain

I’ll probably get level 2 but won’t need level 3

Agreed , I think the looper is the only effect in the LVL 3
All the good ones are in LVL2

Wait, we are going to include those for free now
(Did they ever reimburse those who bought the level they thought they needed only for it to end up being free?)

I'm assuming the Player will not be able to create profiles, never it's intention. Since it was created, hardware-wise with the MK2 already in "DEV" it has the capability to play the newer resolution of profiles.
Remember, Kemper is a German company and English, however standard in EU business is their second language. Maybe it is vague to us, but seem perfectly clear to their Tech Writers and marketing peeps.

My KPP updated with a small hitch to KAOS13. The USB stick direction are not 100% accurate. When holding down FX1+2 at power up, it does not update if the stick is installed. Wait until it starts blinking and the update takes off immediately. Thanks to a K Forum poster for the assist.

Definitely a better connector. Works either way up which is a huge improvement over Micro USB and A and B USB2 connectors.

Yeah, I think the player will never create profiles. For me it´s quite clear. What they meant is that it would have the new profiling compatibility.

Hardware is not thought out for profiling.

In my house, USB-C cables have been broken easier and more often than A or B; when children get ahold of those bloody things and start chewing them, piece of piss to break them.

Yeah the plug is not very durable. USB-A has been probably the most durable out of all of them.

Well... Wookie says A and B are more prone to breaking, but I'd sooner say A and B (especially B) are more prone to breaking the shit they're plugged into. Which is more important, really. Easy enough to replace a cable; PITA to repair your HX Stomp after the little plastic thing falls out of the USB jack.

At first i thought….not possible on the player…but if the new capture tech doesn’t have the refine step…one input will do right?
And if it does..they might be able to flip an output to input via software.

I contacted support, and they confirmed that the player will support profiling. This will need to be done on a PC or Mac using Rig Manager.

Yeah fair enough. If it can create profiles to the same fidelity as the toaster then that’s at least an attractive offering in my books (basically a nano cortex with more fx). Without capture (sorry, profile) ability it’s just not for me

Another big issue is what it gets you in terms of competition. Even compared to the new fx chain, a much cheaper Hotone will do roughly similar stuff using 12 fully assignable effects slots. While technically the Kemper can run more things at once...is there a situation where you want to run all of that?

To me they should've just gone "Tada, now your 699 € Player does a lot more! We figured out how to optimize it to do this!" and offered the Level III stuff for free.

I’ve never had much interest in the Chinese modeling pedals. If I were gigging I’m not sure I’d trust a Hotone as much as Kemper Boss or Line 6.

But yeah there’s going to be other stuff that does more or costs less. That’s where preference comes in. Boss GT1k does all the effects plus dual amps for instance. And it has a screen.

If they meant “abiltiy to use advanced profiles”…that would be very sloppy copy.
I think i read someone called Kemper to confirm on the Kemper forum.
If not would have expected the site to be corrected or some rectification on their forum.

It’s a German company, I can see that getting lost in translation. There’s nothing in the manual about capturing with the device.

Now they added USB audio a decade after releasing the Kemper so I won’t discount completely but for now it’s the profile player.

I went through the Kemper forum and the only reference I saw was “Kemper confirmed this” which referred to the website ad copy.

I guess Christophe may have to confirm or deny personally.
