Had a really tough time getting into to it. Over the past couple of years I would watch some of it and grew tired of the "No Jorsey" ascent thing. Started to research how the story ties together and who the bosses were ect and am now on the last season and really enjoying it.

Some things that stand out are
1-There are no happy endings for anyone in the mob life
2-Tony and the other top characters are perfect for the roles.
3-Tony is very unhealthy in his role and in real life. Sadly leading to his heart attack and passing a few years after the show ended

Thoughts on the series from those who have watched it or went back and re watched it?

i generally agree but maybe this is how hollywood wants us to think?? surely during the course of the mob someone made a ton of money and got away with it right?? its good for movies and tv to have that story line arc but i mean over time all over the world i am sure there are lots of examples where they got away with it... i dont think the cops are batting 100% is all im wondering....

If I counted the number of times I walked around shouting "Gabagool!" in a terrible Tony Soprano accent; you would probably want to throw me off a cliff :bag :ROFLMAO:

They started Youtube channels and give inspirational speeches on podcasts for cash.

We don’t have accents here in NW New Jersey 🤔
For a Caly boy like me I thought all people from NJ talk like mobsters until I met some guys from there who are now rock climbing buddies. When I asked them about it they said it was people from either south side or east(?) part of town that talk like that?

As someone who has studied extensively "Our Thing" here in America, a majority did not have happy endings.

Especially in the 70's-80's with the creation and usage of the RICO act (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racketeer_Influenced_and_Corrupt_Organizations_Act).

Family members fell like dominoes and their Golden Age came crashing down.

It is directly because of the above that the Mafia in America is a mere shadow of what it once was.

what about in Italy?

If you want to read some interesting WW2 history, check out how the US "joined forces" with the Italian mob to help them with the invasion of Italy.

Just goes to show that nothing's off the table, if it can be rationalized that the ends justify the means, in war. And in other things as well.

As for thoughts re The Sopranos, I'm surprised anyone is still discovering the series. It's generally thought of as the GOAT. I agree!

Same! Loved Dexter. The Last wrap up season was good except his ending was way too rushed and abrupt
I think I am the only one who liked the original ending. Other than the CGI storm :bag It will be interesting to see the prequel. Maybe? I am more looking for the return series to see how they do it.

I’m far away from any city environment.
There’s actually a pretty large rural area in the North West part of the state.

Many states on the east coast have totally different vibes and such, depending on which part you're in. Actually, that's probably true for most states.

Someone was going on about AZ deserts, and I instantly thought of Flagstaff, which has 4 seasons.

MD has Baltimore, and the eastern shore where I live is completely different than any of that type of environment. And then you have western MD which is rural and mountainous.

I watched The Sopranos for the first time about 6 months ago. There were parts I absolutely loved and others not so much. I will probably re-watch in a year or so when I am through my list of other shows.

I’ve visited Antietam in Sharpsburg MD.
Absolutely beautiful area in my opinion.
Rural and mountainous is appealing to me .
