IRs made with tube amps (ML Sound Lab claims)

One big benefit of making your own IR’s is you know exactly what’s been done to make them, and you can easily verify that they’re doing what they’re supposed to. If you want accurate (rather than ones you like the sound of) IR’s then you really have to trust the person making them is making the right calls.

I don’t think it’s hard to do, but there are pitfalls to watch out for and some people make certain judgements on balancing various compromises that I don’t always agree with. It’s somewhat similar with making amp captures, I really just feel more comfortable making and using my own.

You mentioned using tube amps for ir’s. I've used the fryette ps100 to make some of mine — which others have you used for your ir’s (assuming you can share as I do recognize it is a major part of your mirror profile business)

I've used several amps through the FX return in. The main thing is to do what Cliff mentioned earlier in the thread - to convolve the signal of the microphone with the signal hitting the cabinet, rather than the original source sweep. Whichever method you use, you're (ideally) cancelling out the colouration from the IR's that you dont want to stack up. It's a bit like balancing a maths equation where you want to leave behind the things you want and cancel out the bits you dont. Also best to be mindful of headroom, but that goes for any method.

Bunch of forum guys talking out of their asses...
Are you sure?
Go to your Fractal cab page and search "ML". Over 100 of his IR's are in the Factory and Legacy section.

Go to the Fractal store and look at the Legacy cab packs. He's produced a bunch of them.

Go to the Fractal forum and search for any number of his free cab downloads. A ton of people with positive comments.

And what part of that changes the fact that he is a dipshit who doesn't understand the technical aspects of what he is talking about? Or that his sales pitches are often dishonest?

Is he really someone you feel strongly about sticking up for?
