I'm in a minimal phase right now

The fact that I was considerably more productive in my studio when I had considerably less gear has been playing around in my head quite a bit.
I think there's something to the idea that limiting one's options can have the unexpected effect of making a person more, rather than less, creative. I've downsized several times with that in mind.

When I have a lot of options, there are times when I have the unfortunate tendency to play around with stuff, instead of playing around with ideas.

I'll admit that after downsizing, I often build the gear pile up again. I'm inconsistent. Sometimes a new item inspires an idea.

Less things to worry about on stage too, or while practicing at home.

For me, I’ve come to the conclusion that less options and less knobs and less distractions makes me actually write more, or play more. So I’m not disappointed when a three knob pedal does one thing and im not changing anything, contrary… im more likely to embrace that sound it does and be creative with it. Each to his own… my weaknesses are definitely option paralysis and tweaking.
