IK Multimedia TONEX

Ah yes, it's been some time since I last made captures. Thought ToneX used cloud training like the rest (except maybe Kemper?) Still could be an online/offline account issue or is it not necessary to be online when training captures?
Naw, the issue is totally related to using a Mac, and an older one at that.

I think it was Fremen on the other forum, who had several issues like that. Maybe there's an update of IKM's servers or just plain neglect?
Someone else said they are not working with Intel Macs anymore, only M series processors, which sucks if true. It really makes the ToneX useless to me as I mostly only wanted it to capture my amps, which I did previously but it lost the files when transferring folders. What a nightmare this thing is.

Yeah, and the capturing is totally dependent on the graphics card. I think there is a way to disable the graphics card if the process is stuck. Best result is to get a Nvidia GPU.
On mine the the option is blacked out to disable the GPU. I have a MBP with an M1 processor, I wonder if I can transfer the captures to that to do the training / finalization and transfer it into ToneX so it will work on my older iMac?

Yes, you can now do the training on any machine (with the software installed) and add the results to your library on any other machine.

I have seen videos where said they can copy the files to another computer for training, then move the finalized presets back to the original machine.

Had my Tonex Pedal up for sale but decided to keep it after I learned about Tonex One Controller / Pirate Midi Thanks a lot @Chocol8 ;)
For less than €50 and some 3d printing, I want to try this as it has the 4.3" touch screen interface for the Pedal, which totally improves the horrible UX which is the Tonex Pedal. Up to 16 footswitches (bought 20 momentary SPST's for €28,50) can be connected through a SX1509 module (which costs a whopping €3). It's probably been discussed in his thread but I totally missed it. Totally worth it to check Greg Smith's channel on YouTube.

I have a Pirate MIDI mini and Chocolate Plus. It works well!

I've got an esp33 board running some custom firmware (I think it's the same as what's in the pirate midi), and a chocolate plus. It's fantastic and works great. The only thing I haven't been able to do is figure out expression control via an expression pedal connected to the chocolate plus.

Did some internet research on the pedal input on the Chocolate Plus. Apparently it is flawed and the midi cc goes in steps. Better try the exp port on the Tonex or some other midi controller than the CP if you really need this. Haven't tried the pedal input on the CP myself though.

I only really wanted volume up front for some swells, so I've got round it with a cheapish vol/exp pedal and a buffered tuner to help with tone loss. It does the job. I might mod the exp pedal with true bypass switch if it's an issue.

I only use the pedal output for the MIDI output into the Polar MIDI input.

Received the Waveshare esp32-s3-touch-lcd-5 yesterday evening and connected it today. Ridiculous how easy that was. They made a webbrowser based firmware flasher and all I needed to do was to connect the screen with usb-c to my pc and the software was up and running in less than a minute. After that's done, connect power to the right terminals on the back of the screen, connect the Tonex Pedal (for this you need an adapter or adapter cable to get from the usb-b port of the Pedal to usb-c. I used an usb-c to usb-a adapter that came with my Samsung phone.
I really like the interface and no more need for button pushing, submenu diving.

I used the 5" screen but it's officially not supported. However Greg has said more or less that the 5" screen is the same as the 4.3" and that it should work. There's not a lot of info for the Tonex Pedal specific. The screen doesn't need as much power and runs stable on 9v 300mA. Big difference with the Tonex One as it's powered over usb through the screen, it must have at least 9v 1000mA for stable performance.
