IK Multimedia TONEX

First, you need to not clip the physical input which comes before the trim. Then you need the trim or the preset gain setting low enough to not clip internally and high enough to drive the model properly.

There is no one setting that will work for all guitars and pedal boards, so you need to do a little work with your own rigs.

Here's my collection of Tonex V2 Mesa Mark V 90 captures!

Contains both amp only captures and Bluetone 2x12 / Bluetone 4x10 captures.

Would love some feedback on how these sound and work for you. This is my first time capturing anything with Tonex.

Oh, some of them seem to be pretty great. They're all pretty clean (as in not noisy) and nicely dynamic. Some of them are a bit too bright for my taste, but the Tonex tonestack is decent enough to sort that out.
The Tweed captures might be very useful for some stuff, need to check the gainier ones a bit more again.
All in all, that's a pretty good pack already, thanks!

That's really cool!

I'll give them a try when I get a chance, thanks!

Thanks! I'm the type of player who uses my guitar volume and tone knobs so it can be useful to roll those down a bit if you feel it's too gainy or too bright.

Sure. And fwiw, this is working pretty well with your captures - I already mentioned their nice dynamic behaviour. This is something I'm missing from quite a lot of captures.

Thanks, @laxu! I'll check them out soon. I always like to check out other's work. Pretty tied up this week but should have some time this weekend.

Just downloaded and did a super quick playthrough. They sound good, nice dynamics and leveling between them as well! I’ll try to get a few amp only captures on my TO when I have the time. Really good job with the captures, thanks for sharing! Lämmin kiitos!

Thanks! There was absolutely zero leveling done here.

The way I was setup, I had my laptop like a few meters away from my rather overkill basement amp rig. Even for the slave out captures I didn't use the Fryette but used my real cabs as load. So it was impossible to compare Tonex model vs real amp in the Finalize step of the capture process because the real amp will just overpower anything I hear from my headphones.

So I just left it at default settings and hoped for the best.

Thank you! I'll give these a try as soon as support can help me figure out why my tonex editor can't access ToneNET. Sadly I haven't been able to download any user captures yet.

Loaded some of @laxu ’s captures onto the Tonex One. I’m very pleased to get a Mark V ”reference and appreciate that you did Triode versions as well. Can’t really decide but played a song with the 2C++ as rhythm and MkIV as lead. I’m not used to how ”dry” the captures are but they do live up to my mental image of the Marks!

It’s such a luxury having good captures (and not too many!).

I also tried some NAM captures that I ”re-captured” with Tonex. They are alright as well. When I A/B’d them earlier it seemed like Tonex added a little ”heft” to them compared to the originals which was interesting. So a bit altered compared to NAM. The original captures were @2dor ’s JCM800 and Friedman BE-100 packs that are on Tone3000. Highly recommend checking them out if you’re into NAM.

checked them out on tone.net - thanks for providing amp only versions as well. I have a doc appt and some chores probably taking up the rest of the day but hopefully can try them out on the tonex 1 in my rig tomorrow morning. They sound very promising in tonex app :)

I just tried the Mark IV Ch3 MkIV Triode 2 capture—really chunky in a good way! Definitely more midrange than I’m used to with typical Mark tones.

Got this in the mail today and was soooo excited. But well, as you can see, not much of a reason to get excited anymore, as the effn touchscreen went off already.

Gotta say, while a very nice chap, the guy building it for me hasn't been securing it at all.
There's also been a small circuit board responsible for the MIDI I/O - which was as well just flapping around inside.
I mean, you usually fix things a bit with hot rubber glue and then add some foam for things to sit tight, no?

Anyhow, he seemed to feel kinda guilty so I'm now sending it back and will get his TXO (that he doesn't need anymore) as a compensation (for a very tiny upcharge). So I'll soon be on my third one, go figure.
