IK Multimedia TONEX

You all ever feel like something’s off with the noise levels as you get into high gain captures? Moving back and forth between Helix and Tonex in the same environment and instruments, I get a ton more noise in Tonex.

I notice it mostly on the Tonex pedal but I believe this is also the case in the plugin.

In Helix I can run most high gain amps with no gate. In Tonex the gate is basically mandatory.

Any particular model one could try for comparison?

I just demoed a lot of the signature packs again now in Tonex and there is a pretty high degree of noise on a lot of them in my setup. I did switch to some Helix amps and had a lot less noise.

I’ve held off but with the promo running it’s really hard to not get a Tonex One right now and load up with virtually all the signature packs. Still like my own captures best though!

You can add cuts to an IR with external tools, but it would be much easier if built into Tonex, plus you could use cuts the cuts on full captures as well.

I'm baking my custom IRs since over a decade already, so I'm pretty aware of that - but it's really not the same when all you want is to quickly apply some high cut to your sound (could do so with the EQ, but by now I have set its frequency much lower as the default, so it's more of a creative than a corrective tool).

Anyone else experiencing a broken IR loader in capture mode in Tonex Modeler on the most recent version? When trying to create a capture the 'Load IR' button opens the window but selections don't actually apply the IR to the playback...

Yikes, def seeing SLOWWWWWWWWW capture processing on the M1. Its looking like 2h/capture which is significantly slower than I was getting prior to the "V2" update. Not the end of the world, just an observation.

I just batched up 8 captures of the trusty Dual Rectifier. Will have a mixture of clean, orange, red cloned to orange, and of course red modern coming up some time this week. This amp has EL34s too, which might be a bit of a different experience for some folks if I get anything worth sharing.

Did a V2 capture of the power amp only tonight. Turned out beyond expectations! I ran the master a bit lower and the result was less ”congestion” so I’ll have to redo my full Fireball 25 amp captures when I can.

Anyone interested can find it on tone.net:

Thanks, any power amp captures might come in extremely handy once I have my SP-77 serviced (which I should really get going, such a nice piece of kit).
