That’s my experience as well, there’s some darkness, stuffiness and generally under gained (hi gain) captures there.

But I’m going to shut up about it and tap out of Tonex before I piss off anyone else.

I have some of my own captures using the exact same settings of both NAM and TONEX V2 and both are really good to my ears. If anyone wanna check them out I’ve posted links. Or just DM me.

I’ve also found many of the Tonex Max captures to be too round/soft so it’s not like you’re going to be banished for saying so.

My singlular goal with Tonex is to get a couple awesome captures of my favorite tracking amps so I can use them and share them. I hope it can pull off the lively top end I get with the real gear. If so, I could not care less about other people’s caps.

A lot of the 2203/2204 I have found so far on the Tonenet free stuff are not quite scratching that itch. I have an SC20H I would love to capture, but I think I need to learn what I'm doing with the ToneX pedal I just got a few weeks ago first before adding additional complexity.

I have to say that i feel a bit dissapointed that the 2 new Broen Sound packs are not captures with V2.

Are you sure about this ..... I mean IK makes / doesn't make some pretty obvious decisions / mistakes ...... but that would be just dumb.

After the software update released yesturday you can now see which captures where made with V2, it has a V2 indicator. The last 2 Brown Sound packs do not have that indicator. Even when the very last one 82/84 was released a week or so after the V2 release.

...but the ENGL one was verified by IK as v2 and it also does not show up as v2 in the app.

I believe that is a miscategorization that will be fixed.

I've gotta be honest, quite a lot of the content in ToneX Max is generally quite dark and muffled sounding. Not my cup of tea really. My custom captures sound way better to me - for obvious reasons!!

I really didn’t jive with anything in ToneX max, and I bought the Mesa pack and was a little disappointed. I loved @Deadpan’s Meshuggah pack and I really like the Amalgam Mesa packs I bought. I’ll check your captures out when I get a chance!

Not the sort of amp I gravitate towards these days, but this immediately brings me back to when I was really into Tool (ages ago now) and obsessed with Adam Jones's tones haha. This sounds great.

Those caps sound very good in the live playthrough section of that video. The top end definitely seems more lively than I’ve been able to achieve in V1 capture attempts.

I just started looking for a used ToneX One just to run stomp captures in front of the presets on the pedal. If they ever figure out a way to run stomp captures in the same preset as amp captures, IK will be the leader in this race. Stadium will probably do it too, but at a much higher price point.

I have found that I always like my real OD pedal over a capture every single time, so while it saves space and is one less thing to power, I prefer running my SD-1 into the ToneX
