Good sir, you need a new pick!

Yo….so anyone here running direct V2 captures? We’ve got a new puppy in the house so my nice amps are locked up out of the chomp zone for a while. I’m getting HELLA lively presence on the V2 captures, like the blanket was pulled off the speakers. It’s significant. I had tried this on V1 and didn’t love it.

Tonex direct V2 caps into a guitar cab just became a viable live option for me. Some of these recto caps are punishing.
They largely fixed the high end with V2. No eq matching needed anymore on my end.

I had noticed that through IRs. It seems like there are “feel” changes as well. It’s hard to compare with certainty because caps vary, but I’m feeling more bounce and a more natural pick attack, or like the pick attack has more of the amp character.

The BAM isn’t doing it favors but a couple of my Recto caps aren’t miles off what I get from that amp through that cab.

I see the improved feel too. Had V1 captures of my fractal tones. Prefer the feel of V2 versions.

I've uploaded my Extended training captures to ToneNet as well. Easiest is to search for "FB25" in the Tonex app.

It totals 13 captures of the ENGL Fireball 25, where all except Power Amp only has with and without Mid Boost (I lowered the mids a bit though on those captures):

Power Amp only
Clean
Clean Bright
Clean Strat (is a bit gritty)
Driven Strat
Medium Gain
High Gain

But like I said, just search for "FB25" and all except the oldest of the captures that pops up is from me.

Please give me some feedback if you try them out! I know already that volume on the clean caps are a bit low. Was surprised that the "Clean Strat" captures are my favorites. Works well with humbuckers and turning down the gain!

Ok, WTF IK. Tonex One when used to output computer audio does not have working volume control on MacOS. The slider just does nothing so it's like Tonex One is at 100% volume all the time. The only way to adjust volume level is via individual apps (e.g Spotify).

I thought I could use it as a simple audio interface for headphone out this way.

Yeah, that's pretty lame, really. But in fact, the entire audio interface business of the TXO is. Pretty large recording offset due to lack of proper driver communication, way less than shiny RTL, no way to level your DI tracks, let alone recording DIs while monitoring through captures. Etc.
Should still be pretty useful on the road (recording what you hear and compensating for the offset), but I know the moment will come when I have everything leveled down in, say, Logic, and accidentally start a YT video at full volume...

Yeah I'd at least expect some sort of bare minimum class compliant implementation, or the ability to adjust the output volume somehow on the TXO.

It always makes me wonder if anyone at IK actually had to use some of this stuff even for a day when there are so many obvious things that could be improved.

I am pretty sure you can adjust the output volume on the One, but you need to be in one of the alt modes I can never remember without a cheatsheet that I lost.

On an iPhone or iPad, I was able to get volume control working by setting hearing protection at the OS level, and then the volume controls work backwards so you turn up to get quieter and down to get loader. I am pretty sure all that weirdness is actually Apple not IK.

It will only control the guitar modeling volume, even the global output volume won't do anything for the audio from the computer.

Fwiw, interestingly enough, when connected to my Samsung mobile, the global volume control (of the phone) actually works, throughout apps as well.
IK should simply come up with a macOS driver. Could adress the recording offset issue as well.

Well that sucks! In the rare cases I have the one hooked to my Macbook, I have always used in app volume controls which do work, and for the iPhone/iPad, the stupid hearing protection reverse volume thing works OK.

When using headphones, I have mostly been using it into a Mooer looper/drum machine and using the headphone out on the looper so I haven't had to mess with it that much.

Anyone on Windows tried if the TONEX ASIO driver functions normally in this regard?

My windows laptop died before I got the One, but it was a worse experience with the OG pedal. Basically, the OG pedal had to be in interface mode to get any audio at all from Windows, in which case it did not play the captures or presets on the pedal. You could use it as the input and output for the PC and then run the Tonex software to make guitar noises, but at that point you are better off using an actual interface.
