As much as I may have issues with the Stomp, as much as I might prefer a GT-1000Core for some things (as long as we stay in the same form factor ballpark), if anything, among all existing units, the Stomp has got to be *the* goldilocks device to serve as a true swiss army knife for guitar players.
Right now, I mainly use it as a spatial FX unit and level booster on my somewhat bigger board (might use the amps there as well, undecided yet), but I also use it it pretty much regularly as:
- The brain of a very small pedalboard (along with 1-2 analog drives and some utilitarian stuff) for both electric and acoustic guitar.
- Just on its own for acoustic gigs, in this case I have two switches dedicated to the looper, one for the tuner. Don't even need external switches.
- Just on its own for electric gigs. I usually connect a single tap/tuner switch, though.
Just out of interest, I also connected it to my dusty Laney LC 50 (4CM) a while ago and it's been quite glorious, too.
As said, could likely do all that with the GT-1000Core as well, but having a sort of 100% compatible plugin version is something I absolutely love. I have DIs of pretty much all my guitars recorded and can just grab the Macbook anywhere to create or refine some sounds, then beam them into the Stomp later on. Did so just recently on a longer travel to a gig, great.
Also, having access to all those amps pretty much any time is really nice.
