I swore I’d never

Well, when you gotta be the guitarist, vocalist AND sound guy, you gotta be able to get out in FOH to get shit dialed in. I plan to only use the wireless at soundcheck for this reason, then swap back to a trusty cable. I don't even play fast, and in this band (Jive) I rarely use much dirt, but I can't deal with latency and I can't have my signal dropping mid-set. Technical mishap shit like that causes me to lose concentration and forget parts / lyrics, best to avoid the possibility from even happening.

Trying to decide between the Boss WL-20 and the "nice" Xvive U2 system...

The FedEx truck has just been circling my house within a block or two for 6hrs now on the map tracker thing… there’s no way that that’s an efficient way to do the route

It’s here. Pretty nifty. First thing I did was play around with the modeling going into my IEMs. Tbh I thought it was kinda of meh but I’ll load some IRs on there and play around with that more at a later date

Now been having a blast building wonkadoo fx patches tho

I actually was able to very quickly approximate what I need from the afterneath with caverns and pitch wham. Probably can get it even closer if I spend more time but have that pulled from my board as well

What do you think of the space echo? I've been watching videos of that for the last few days.

Dude probably among the greatest purchases I’ve ever made. I have it on cooonstantly. It’s a core part of my sound now. I’d love to free up that space but none of the HX models compete lol

Boss knocked it put of the park with this one

I definitely need to try one. Tape delay and multi head delays are easily my favourite types. I like the models in the helix but in the videos I've seen the Boss sounds exceptional.

Conveniently 1/8” midi syncs tempo to my looper too so nice to have it always in perfect time without even thinking about it. I wish the HX stuff had 1/8” tempo jacks. I ordered some adaptors a while back but they didn’t work need to find something else

I haven’t tried the space delay, but a couple ideas for you with the stomp delays…Use parallel paths, and use a 100% wet delay in front of retro reel on one path. You can build your own delays that way, pan however you want. or even more subtle chorus and flange. You can experiment with different modulation and other effects on one or both paths and get all kinds of cool stuff happening.

But if I’m not building a parallel path delay, right now my favorite delay block is elephant man.

Tried to load some ownhammer IRs in HX edit but I seemed to have been unsuccessful?

Anyway will revisit, staryed playing around with modelling into IEMs more, once I started tweaking the cab settings more started getting some decent tones, good stuff. I don’t see myself going direct modeller ever but it’s fun to play around with and have there if something ever went down at a gig

I didn't know that, that's really cool.

It's just drag and drop. Did you try and load the wrong format? It's 48k for helix units.

While this is purely subjective, I'd recommend checking out the 2x12 Mandarin 30 cab in its default setting for pretty much anything and possibly do some finetunings then. For my taste, this is the most balanced cab I have explored so far, working equally well for both clean and dirty sounds (possibly not for metal, though). And I also think it's pretty decent at kind of showcasing the different qualities of the different amps, get used to their different topologies and what not.
And even in case you won't like it, when checking out amps and drive boxes, I absolutely recommend sticking to one decent allround cab or IR for a start because the partially huge differences between cabs simply don't allow to make fair/meaningful amp comparisons.

That shouldn't matter because HX Edit converts them automatically.

I’m probably doing something wrong in HX edit. I can see the IRs I’ve imported in Edit, is there a sync button or something I have to press so that it saves them to the pedal?

Now that I’ve started messing with cab settings I’m liking stuff, kinda forgot when I first plugged in that they aren’t just static IRs

Probably gonna put the modelling stuff in the back burner for now have a gig in a week and a half and start rehearsing with another band for a fill in gig next week so want to make sure I have all my Fx stuff set up and streamlined

Thinking about getting a small inexpensive 3 button midi switch too. I’ve never programmed midi but I assume I could set that up to scroll presets up and down and program the third button to be the tuner to free up all three buttons on the pedal for stomp activity?

As far as small, inexpensive midi controller..... seriously, the m-vave/cuvave one is simple easy and cheap.....does widi with an adapter for the HX unit.... Bluetooth, rechargeable....may power USB stuff too, i think in a pinch. really just great.

Holy crap. Just had look and that's super cheap. I'll probably order one just to check it out. I can always send it back if it sucks.
They have an app to program it that makes it very simple. Called CubeSuit....think it's supposed to be CubeSuite but my app doesn't have an e.

I use it with my mx5 and it works great. Had it for a year and only had to charge it once. There is a very bright annoying led, but just put some electrical tape over it, and it will be fine.

It honestly is surprising how well built it is ...and why everything else is so expensive.

Now that’s a price I can live with lol… what adaptor would I need to use? Something like this?

No, once they show up in HX Edit, they should instantly be on the hardware as well.
When you see them in the IR list, you can drag them straight to an empty slot in your signal path, an IR block with the IR loaded will be automatically created.
But of course they should also show up in the pulldown/arrow menu of an IR block.
