Hotone Ampero Mini

Fwiw, does anyone know whether the thing can run from USB bus power? For any potential use cases I could have in mind, that'd add a whole lot of value (it's one of the pretty little reasons I'm still using my Zoom G3).

There’s not much reason to buy one of these cheap knock offs if you can afford one of the products it’s based off of anyway. IMHO. There’s no such thing as a free lunch. You’d have to be in pretty dire straits for the difference between this and an HX Stomp to have major financial implications… Buy nice or buy twice.

If you are a newbie and are not sure your going to stick with it, sure... but for most folks here, who are dedicated gear heads; they’re probably gonna be a pass or backup units.
Oddly enough to my ears the Marshall models , JCM800 Freidman BE/HBE sound a lot better than the LNE6 as does the Recto
Yes , it’s very limited in controls but if you just want 4 or 5 patches , it’s a killer unit
Ping pong , rack delays are decent
Cleans are good
Basically you are getting a better sounding (amps ) stomp mini

*** plus a touchscreen w better response than a QC

LOL ! NO... I'm not a newbie by a long shot. I have an FM3 and a Helix LT. I bought this for grins & giggles, as a toy of curiosity.

If I don't like, I'll give it away ! I'm retired and have no financial implications...as you call it. Dire straits ? Free lunch ? LMAO

Their stuff is pretty crazy just looking at their new Pulze practice amp obviously they took inspiration from the Yamaha THR 30 but the feature set compared to the Yamaha is nuts

45 amp models vs like 12
Much more extensive effects
Bluetooth
Touch screen and app
100 drum patterns to jam with
USB audio to DAW

I mean just for a grab and go it’s like a THR on steroids

Pulled the trigger on one of these today via eBay coupon ($165 new, shipped). Will report back once I have it but expected to replace a (20-year-old) Pandora PX2 as my (cheap) headphone travel solution.

Until of course an FM0 is released…

$229 on Hotone's online shop.

https://shop.hotoneaudio.com/products/ampero-mini. Available in 6 colors too.

Specs look pretty much identical to the original Ampero Stomp too, which is not bad at all.

You could also fit this on ny pedalboard out there, no problem, and immediately get amp modelling, IRs and effects for cheap. I'm yet to play one, but Ampero tones sounded pretty good on all clips i've found online.
eBay today: (you can add a 20% coupon on top: SHOPTWENTY)

Neato. I picked up an Orange mini. I've been interested in trying the Hotone stuff and $160 is within the threshold of gambling.

This little guy seems to pack a big wallop. Mesa 5 band EQ in the EQ block, 4 band Parametric EQ, Full featured compressor, interesting time based FX, impressive amp list. If it had MIDI I'd have one one the way

It might be the same modeling engine as the Valeton GP100. If that's the case, the amp and drives would definitely be killer, but the reverbs, mods and delays will have much to be desired. I know youve had the Valeton GP100 before (that I believe your kid's using now?). Judging the from the models list in the old Ampero (which is what this is), it's pretty similar to the GP100. I loved the GP100, but the verbs, mods and delays killed it for me.

I've only used it a handful of times and remember being not overly fond of it. I should borrow it and refresh my opinion since he seems to only want to play my Katana now

Damn, I always thought it was HO-Tone. . It's HOT-Tone? Really? OH well, I do own this little guy and it's a great simple tool with lots packed in for this price, and it's capable of sounding great for cleans or hi-gains. It is REALLY BIZARRE though that it has no on/off switch or bypass.
