Hopefully....I'm going to eat some crow (Fender Tonemaster Pro content)

Wow, I can't dial in the Plexi on this to save my life, and that is an easy amp to make sound good. Compared to the AXE it's not even close by a long shot. I'm using my own IR (same as the one for the BE I just did) and the Plexi model is so muffled and has this super weird midrange that the AXE doesn't. I have a 1987X and the AXE and that amp sound so close, like scary close.

I know the TMP is a 1959 but I can't get it so sound good at all. Totally muffled, no sizzle and a weird midrange. Maybe if I use their cabs it would wake up? I use this IR for everything and it always sounds good but this Plexi model is not getting it.

I suggest that you start with preset number 85 - Freeway to Heck. It should save you a lot of time for getting that classic plexi crunch.

Some fresh ears and I've got it all figured out. The TMP Plexi is a little darker than the Fractal (that's a first) but I got it sounding to my liking. So far, on this Jan '25 1.5.5 firmware, this thing is pretty impressive.

Crazy that we had almost identical experiences. I also thought the Plexi was trash until I approached it again with fresh ears.

Well, it's not my ears that are different after a nights rest. I just went through this preset and the IR block has the Fender 4x12 Brit GB Speaker Impedance loaded. I previously had this set to NONE. No wonder it sounds different! It sounds like absolute shit when it's set to NONE.

The other presets I made are still set at NONE and they sound great. It's just this Plexi one that really needs the Fender 4x12 Brit GB for whatever reason. It sounds totally different using this one. I went through a few of the other included Impedances and this one sounds closest to a real amp (1987X) vs. this 1959 Model.

Something is up with this IR block but hey, if it sounds good...

Impedance curves are in the wrong spot.

I remember something about that way back when this thing was released. The IR I’m using is from a Mesa Oversized V30 cab! Dude, WTH? It does sound great using that Fender Impedance curve for this one Model though. Super weird. Otherwise this device is pretty cool, just not very authentic I guess.

Now I get it. You are supposed to pick and choose a SIC from their list that most closely matches your 3rd Party IR. Except that doesn't exactly work that well. I'm using a Mesa Oversized 4x12 and their Greenback 4x12 sounds the closest. And you can't even see the curves anywhere, it's all by ear.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the SiC implementation. Honestly, I've settled into the factory cabs now for the most part. I have my preferred configs saved as block presets and they sound very good.

The Mesa 4x12 factory cab is quite nice with the right mic placement. The 4x12 Mesa SiC, on the other hand, makes most V30 IRs sound terrible, IMHO.

Yeah it would be pretty handy to see the eq curve like on the Fractal gear. Eh, even if it was authentic youd still be mixing and matching to what sounds best.

I still feel like there's some volume jumps when you scroll through things as well. Fundamentally not the best approach but not the worst either. I doubt it's going to get massively overhauled at this point, but if they improve the volume levels, default choices dropping out as well as adding images for the EQ curve that would make it a lot nicer to use.

I just picked up a used TMP today for a stupid low price (yeah, it got me). Got it home, upgraded the firmware (super easy BTW) and A/B/C compared it against a 2018 BE100 real amp vs. AXE III vs. TMP and the TMP can definitely hold its own. No problem getting the TMP dialed into a great BE100 tone. TMP is pretty nice now after the latest firmware update, at least on the BE100 i’ve configured. It’s come a long way to date.

Only thing I can’t find in the TMP is how to adjust the Left and Right output levels. Google search mostly just brings up Doug B’s Digital Den and I just can’t click on those…

@stilwel is there a way to independently adjust the Left and Right volume on the Outputs?

Figured out the Left and Right volumes too. Have to use a split path and then adjust the mixer. I could move the pedals around too for parallel routing of the effects but this sounds good now.

Yes I'm this deaf in my left ear... :facepalm

Hey mikah912 !

Been really enjoying reading about your journey with the FTMP so far.

In my FM3, my go to Amp for basically everything is the " Brownface Fender Vibrolux [6G11] " normal channel.

Given the FTMP has so many Fender Amps, do you know if the "Brownface Fender Vibrolux" is included ?

Thanks,
Ben
