...plays the fart generator into the totally underrated Matchstick Ch2 with the totally underrated creamback 1x12 and some nice totally underrated dynamic plate reverb and sounds like usual. But as always nice playing.

is LoLK a modern masterpiece?
let’s take a look at some FACTS:

  • LoLK has the best OST out of any other touhou game. the music is very atmospheric, which really adds to the whole experience of playing. the themes have the power to draw you in and make you feel like you’re actually in the game. personally, i sometimes get goosebumps whenever i listen to the OST: it’s just that good.
  • LoLK has the best story out of any other touhou game. the whole idea of lunarians invading gensokyo is brilliant. ZUN took a classic premise and made it his own. not only that, but he added a touhou twist—the lunar capital is ACTUALLY what’s getting invaded. this is the only touhou game to have such a shocking plot twist, let alone one at all.
  • LoLK arguably has the best cast of characters. the designs are impeccable as well as their personalities. each character leaves a lasting impression on you. the cast is practically BEAMING with color, not to mention they’re badass: a dream baku? check. a spirit that wants revenge on the lunarians? check. the goddess of hell? check.
  • LoLK has an ICONIC character: clownpiece. the only other game in the series that has an iconic character is EoSD (with flandre). the fact that LoLK was able to spawn another iconic character shows how much of a phenomenon this game really was.
  • LoLK has the best gimmick out of any other game: point-device mode. it’s a challenging game mode that encourages resource (bomb) management, which is very useful when it comes to touhou, not just LoLK. not only that, but because of point-device mode, but stages are divided into chapters. Each chapter has its own unique section of danmaku (most notable in stage 5), which, in turn, makes the stages more fun and important.
  • LoLK has the best stage designs out of any other touhou game... a dream world in space? check. a beautiful lunar city? check. an ocean? check. not only are the locations amazing, as you can see, but the actual detail is jaw-dropping as well. the stages have so much dimension and depth, it’s makes the game almost feel like a major motion picture.
  • LoLK has the best bullet patterns out of any other game. it’s very clear that ZUN took his time with this. each spellcard is SO unique and SO memorable. not only that, but they’re very pleasant to look at. i’d argue that each spellcard has it’s own personality, if you know what i mean.
  • LoLK has the best playable cast: reimu, marisa, sanae, and reisen. each character here is important canonically and has a great shot-type. each shot-type is PERFECT, which isn’t the case for any other touhou game with 4 (or more) playable characters, as there always seems to be a dud.
  • LoLK has arguably the best art out of any other game. one may argue that the art looks the same as the art from the other recent games: but they’d be DEAD wrong. TH15’s art is colored with a special technique, making the characters semi-3D, essentially giving them life and a sense of reality (as opposed to HSiFS’s glossy and saturated style, for example, or PCB’s pastel and creamy style).
P.S: no, the difficulty is not “cheap”. if you’re playing on legacy mode, then obviously it’s going to be hard because the game is clearly intended to be played on point-device mode.
