Helix JCM800 2203 Request Thread (FW 3.70 new Brit 2203)!

The bar is lower than I thought.
People think a goddamn tubescreamer in front of a clean amp sounds like a JCM800.
This is sad, only.
Said noone, I guess? I said you can almost overlook the lack of a proper *british* hard rock amp (read: 800) with some bite with it. It's just a nice british sound and I wouldn't classify the P75 exactly as a clean amp if you keep the Master at 10 and the Gain above 5 or 6 with hot humbuckers.

I agree, my bar is pretty low since I have never played through one. I was just saying I am getting tones that were close to what I hear on some classic rock sounds of bands that used a JCM800.

I have no idea if it is even close to a real one, it just sounds pretty good to me running all the gains low with my setup.

I am joking most of the time, whatever works and sounds good to you is what's important.
There are no rules with a modeler, boosting an amp with a preamp is a cool way to create new sounds and cascading overdrive pedals is a great trick people use since forever, especially in the Helix where you have plenty of options.

Ha Ha!! No worries, I figured you were kidding around. I have seen plenty of your posts and figured you could be sarcastic :grin. I still agree with you, my bar is set pretty low with my experience level and until we get a real nice JCM800, I'm chasing tones regardless of how I get there. I had not messed with the P75 until it was mentioned a few pages back. I thought it sounded harsh, but once I lowered the gain on the amp (w/ no cab) and stacked the distortion pedals it sounded better than anything else I tried.

There are so many options with my XL, I feel I am only scratching the surface most of the time. A lot of the technical stuff you guys post goes over my head, but I pick up bits and pieces that are GOLD!

Keep up the good fight and hopefully Line 6 will get us a good 800 tone soon.

Why not quit this foolishness and use the real thing if realism is the goal...

Arthur is a Russian guy who's been living in Bulgaria for many years, with good English skills who builds high quality - high voltage tube preamps of many kinds, plus he does custom work as well (I have two, JCM 800 and Fender Twin, both perfect and accurate to the real deal).

Arthur Sounds JCM 800, a true high voltage JCM 800 in a inexpensive lightweight pedal, and then use that L6 modeling gizmo for a tube power amp sim assuming that's possible with a L6 (QC and Axe allow it and it's awesome, real tube tone without the weight and SPL limitations).

You can't get realer than the real thing LOL!

Because you can’t physically fit a real 2203 JCM800 into a Helix. :idk
Maybe, though you could fit most of the critical elements of a 2203 onto your pedalboard right next to your Helix, all in a lightweight AC powered pedal, which could possibly make that Helix sound good?

Out of all the immensity of the internet you chose to advertise your pedal here?
How dare you call my thread foolish.

bitch slap slapping GIF

Seriously though, we don't have a single proper master volume Marshall in the Helix to this day, there are only two classic era (pre-90s) master volume Marshalls worth modeling, why the neglect?

Edit:
Hopefully the natural order of things will result in both sooner or later.
