Helix JCM800 2203 Request Thread (FW 3.70 new Brit 2203)!

One day while I was playing my STOCK JCM800 2203 stack at full blast the head rattled off the cab and rolled under the sofa never to be seen again...
Now I have a Helix but it doesn't have a good JCM800 and the real thing is like 4000$... how I wish Line 6 could DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
Have someone in the States buy an FM3 MK II Turbo for you(with your funds), and ship it to you as a gift.

Honestly if a JCM 800 is a critical part of your sound, it's really worth trying something like an FM9. Guessing it's going to be a lot easier for you to scrape together $1600 or whatever compared to waiting for Line 6 to develop it.

Just buy an FM3 and be done with it. The helix is clearly not gonna get that done anytime soon.

My (used) FM-3 cost £950.

JMP2203:£750 (with a 1960TV cab)
JMP2204: £750
JCM800 2204: £1100 (with a 1960A with G12H30 Blackbacks)
JCM800 4104: (2204 combo): £800

If its JUST about a good JCM800, James can probably make do with one of the many plugin emulations of NAM models out there. I think its just one piece of the Helix puzzle for him so abandoning that ecosystem might be a bit overkill. I think the point is also, that someone shouldn't have to spend £1000 on a modeller just to have an accurate JCM800 model, it needs to be the benchmark across all of them.

I think you’re incorrect. We’ll see what the next firmware update has.

Also, it’s probably not clear to those who just drop in this thread from time to time, but this thread is basically James intentionally making a whole lot of noise to make sure Line 6 doesn’t forget about the importance of this amp. It has already been strongly hinted at that a revised or different 2204/JCM model is in the works by a certain someone from Line 6.

If you think about it, this will be the first stock JCM800 Line 6 has EVER modeled.
Line 6 was founded in 1996 being one of the first digital amp modeling companies on the market... It only took them 27-28 years.

there's no plugin that comes close to the quality of the marshall in the axe. I tried most of them, the fractal just feels different.

Separate poweramps have entered the chat.

Well, to support the separate poweramps request (along with updated Marshalls!), here's a use case I am having (not sure it's been mentioned before). I have purchased a Marshall-in-a-box-pedal that does a wonderful job as an analog Plexi preamp. As things are now, I am running this before the Helix and into a clean amp model with a greenback IR. It would be great if I could use just a Marshall poweramp model, though. The clean amps are coloring the sound a bit, and a clean Marshall model will already use a Marshall preamp. There!

All this big discussion about the missing proper JCM800 model in the Helix has made me curious to try the Placater Clean (that, if I understand well, has the bright cap option) pushed by Timmy (that was designed for Marshall amps) and in case even by another od before Timmy (maybe Deranged Master, or Klon or Heir Apparent). The truth is that I stopped playing, but maybe I should thank Mr @James Freeman for making me want to start using my guitar and my Helix more regularly again!
